讲座内容:
Molecular imaging is a leading force in a new era of personalized medicine where quantitative
methods of engineering and systems sciences have a pivotal role in disease detection, diagnostics,
and treatment. There are urgent needs to develop quantitative imaging methods and software tools
in clinical applications. Such quantitative imaging may require the use of multiple imaging
modalities that provide anatomical, functional, and molecular information of various diseases. This
talk will illustrate the power of multimodality imaging and image-guided interventions (IGI)
technology for cancer diagnosis and therapy. Deformable image registration, automatic image
segmentation, computer assisted intervention techniques have been developed and validated for the
management of cancer patients at Emory University. By combining multimodality imaging and
multidimensional data to exploit our current knowledge of various diseases, this research is to have
substantial positive implications for disease detection, diagnosis, and therapy.
