Who’s Who in the Company
Scott Spence (Artistic
Director / Director) This
marks Scott’s 26th season
at Beck Center! Since
1990, he has produced
over 200 productions,
directing over 75 himself.
The list of favorites
grows every season, and
includes Parade, A Man
of No Importance, Sweeney Todd, Hair, Picasso at
the Lapin Agile, The Farnsworth Invention, Reefer
Madness, The Fix, Zombie Prom, Bloody Bloody
Andrew Jackson, Evil Dead The Musical, The 25th
Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and the
box office smash hits The Producers and Altar
Boyz. Recently, Scott added to those favorites
with productions of She Loves Me and The New
Mel Brooks Musical Young Frankenstein. He is
very proud of the awards and acclamations
Beck Center has received over the past decade,
and is especially grateful for having won the
Northern Ohio Live Award for Achievement
in Theatre in 2006. Outside of these walls,
Scott’s directorial assignments have included
a remounting of Beck Center’s hit production
of Altar Boyz at PlayhouseSquare’s beautiful
Hanna Theatre, Das Barbecü at Opera
Cleveland, The Last Night of Ballyhoo at Case
Western Reserve University’s Eldred Theatre,
Oh Dad Poor Dad....at Cleveland State University
Summer Stages, and Noises Off at both
Weathervane Playhouse in Akron and Berea
Summer Theatre. An adjunct faculty member
at Cleveland State University, Scott has also
had the privilege to direct Satre’s No Exit and
Strindberg’s Miss Julie. Occasionally on the
other side of the footlights, Scott has appeared
in Dick Deadeye (Berea Summer Theatre), Man
of La Mancha (Jewish Community Center), The
Secret Rapture (Dobama) and closer to home at
Beck Center in Big River, The Boys Next Door
and Laughter on the 23rd Floor. He also had the
privilege of joining the cast of Passion, directed
by Victoria Bussert, in his only onstage stint
in the Studio Theater. Scott holds an MFA in
Directing from Western Illinois University and
is a trained stage fight choreographer, having
studied extensively with the SAFD. As always,
he dedicates all the work he does to his two
extraordinarily talented leading ladies, Rachel
and Carleigh. You both amaze me every day.
David Vegh (Director)
is excited to be making
his Beck Center for
the Arts debut. His
directing credits include
The Cripple of Inishmaan
and Lobby Hero at
Case Western Reserve
University, where he
teaches in both the undergraduate and MFA
Acting programs. He directed Christopher
Johnston’s Peace at Home: Veterans in South
Euclid for Notre Dame College, and will
direct the musical High Fidelity this fall at
CWRU. As an actor, he recently appeared
in Jerusalem (Wesley) at Ensemble Theatre
and The Three Sisters (Chebutykin) with
the CWRU/CPH MFA Acting Company
at the Cleveland Play House. Other stage
credits include South Coast Repertory,
Chautauqua Theatre Company, and
California Repertory. He made his feature
film debut opposite Tom Hanks in Steven
Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan, and recently
appeared in the films My Friend Dahmer and
The Last Witch Hunter. His television credits
include Grey’s Anatomy, Dexter, and House.

Sara Bogomolny
(Assistant Director) is
thrilled to be working
at Beck Center for the
Arts for the first time.
A recent graduate of
Case Western Reserve
University, Sara is an
avid actor and director.
While at Case Western, Sara had the
opportunity to direct Anton Chekhov’s The
Cherry Orchard and Urinetown for student
groups. Favorite roles at Case Western
include The Cripple of Inishmaan (Kate),
The Addams Family (Alice Beineke), and
The Philadelphia Story (Elsie) with the Case
Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play
House MFA Acting Company. She also
pursued her passion for theatre to London

for a semester abroad at the Royal Academy
of Dramatic Arts in 2014. Sara can be seen
next month in Ensemble Theatre’s production
of The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail.

Julia Kolibab* (Phyllis)
is thrilled to be making
her Beck Center for the
Arts debut working on
a great play with such
a talented cast and
director. Some of her
favorite performances
have included Edward
Albee’s The Occupant (Louise Nevelson),
Marriage Play (Jill), and Pack of Lies (Barbara)
at Cesear’s Forum, Frankie and Johnny in the
Claire de Lune (Frankie), A Loss of Roses (Helen
) and Anton in Show Business (Kate, Ben,
Jackey) at Ensemble Theatre, and Necessary
Targets (Jelena) at Willoughby School of Fine
Arts. In NYC: The Awakening (Elena) and The
Great Nebula in Orion (Louise) at Arts Club
Theatre, Soho and The Dreams of Clytemnestra
(Fury) at the 42nd Street Theatre. Julia is also
the director of both the Youth Theatre and
the Accent on Youth program at the Chagrin
Valley Little Theatre.
Richie Gagen (Jared)
is so excited to tackle
such a challenging and
wonderful role in this
play. Previous Beck Center
for the Arts credits
include Mary Poppins
(Valentine, Ensemble),
American Idiot (Swing,
Pit Vocalist), and She Loves Me (Busboy,
Ensemble). He performed last fall at Cedar
Point’s HalloWeekends in A Monster’s Trickor-Treat Musical (Dracula). Other credits
include The Wild Party (Jackie) and Night of
the Living Dead (Zombie) at Blank Canvas
Theatre, and The Fisherman and the Moon
(Narrator), The Tale of the Name of the Tree
(Meerkat), and The Floating Dolls (Fisherman,
Ensemble) at Talespinner Children’s Theatre.
Richie is a graduate of Cleveland State
University’s Department of Theatre and
Dance, where he appeared in productions of
Lysistrata (Men’s Chorus) and A Midsummer
Night’s Dream (Flute, Thisby). Richie would

Anne McEvoy (Joyce)
is always grateful for a
chance to work at Beck
Center where she has
appeared in The Young
Man from Atlanta, Wings,
and The Diary of Anne
Frank. Elsewhere, Anne
has performed with
Actor’s Summit, Blank Canvas Theatre,
Cleveland Play House, Cleveland Public
Theatre, CleveShakes, Clague Playhouse,
Dobama Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Great
Lakes Theatre, Karamu House, Kennedy’s,
Lakeland College, MAMAÍ Theatre, NaCl
Lab, none too fragile, and Ohio Shakespeare.
A member of Dobama Theatre’s Playwrights
Gym, Anne has published several children’s
books and written a handful of plays produced
locally at Talespinner Children’s Theatre,
Clague Playhouse, Cleveland Public Theatre’s
Big [Box], and Great Lakes Theatre Outreach
Tour. She’s particularly thankful to David Vegh
for letting her share in Ms. Baker’s journey
with such a generous cast.
Hayley Baran (Stage Manager) is thrilled to
be making her Stage Manager debut with
this production of Body Awareness. Since she
became a Beck Center regular, Hayley has
helped out behind the scenes in a multitude
of roles. She began volunteering primarily
as a light board and follow spot operator
before finally making her way backstage as
the Assistant Stage Manager on many of the
shows here at Beck Center over the last five
years. Most recently, she spent her summer as
the Assistant Stage Manager for both Heathers:
The Musical and Billy Elliot the Musical. Other
favorite shows over the years include Forever
Plaid, where she made it on stage as the Nice
Box Lady, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat, and Reefer Madness. Thank you to
both Scott and David for this opportunity,
and thanks to the cast for making this such an
enjoyable experience.
Rick Montgomery Jr.*
(Frank) made his Beck
Center debut in What
the Butler Saw (Dr.
Rance). His last stage
performance was ten
years ago in the Mackey
Theater production of
The Full Monty (Harold
Nichols). In between, Rick has focused on a
screen career. He thanks his family, of course,
but even more to Scott Spence for bringing
him back into the Beck Center family.

Aaron Benson (Scenic Designer, Technical
Director) was the Faculty Scene Designer
and Technical Director for Fullerton College
in Fullerton, California before arriving
to Ohio. Aaron holds his MFA in Scenic
Design from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
Marcus Dana (Lighting Designer) is delighted
to be back at Beck Center for the Arts with Body
Awareness! after recently lighting Ruthless! and
Shining City. Marcus is currently the Resident
Lighting Designer at Dobama Theatre. He is
the Technical Director and Lighting Designer
for Nightingale Opera in Hudson, Ohio, and
the Kent State University Voice Department.
Marcus is also on staff at Tri-C Eastern Campus.
Previous credits include: Resident Lighting
Designer at Near West Theater (2001-06),
Guest Lighting Designer at Canton Players
Guild (2005-11), and Verlezza Dance (2004-10).
Marcus worked at Beck Center for the Arts from
1995-2000, for which his design of The Secret
Garden won the 1995-96 Peggy Ezekiel Award of
Outstanding Achievement.
Angie Hayes (Sound Designer) is a freelance
audio engineer from Wisconsin. She has a
Bachelor Degree in Music from the University
of Wisconsin Oshkosh, with an emphasis in
Recording Technology and Music Business.
Since moving to Cleveland, she has operated
sound for Beck Center’s productions of Billy
Elliot the Musical, Heathers: The Musical, In the
Heights, and American Idiot. She has previously
designed sound for Cleveland Public Theatre’s
The Loush Sisters Love Dick’ns, and assistant
sound designed In a Word. As a freelance
audio engineer, Angie interned at Bad Racket
Recording Studio, she has worked on audio for
video projects, and is the sound designer and
recording engineer for the fictional podcast
series Munchen, MN.
Aimee Kluiber (Costume Designer) is a costume
designer from Lakewood. She studied theatre
and music at Wittenberg University and The
Cleveland Institute of Music and fashion and
millinery design at The Virginia Marti College
of Art and Design. Her theatrical associations
include Lyric Opera Cleveland, Cleveland Play
House, Cleveland Institute of Music, Cain
Park, Case Western Reserve University, Cesear’s
Forum, Red Hen Productions, Dobama
Theatre, Ensemble Theatre, Beck Center,
Willoughby Fine Arts Association, and the
Cleveland Jewish Community Center.
Annie Baker (Author) has written The Flick
(Playwrights Horizons, OBIE Award for
Playwriting, Susan Smith Blackburn Prize),
Circle Mirror Transformation (Playwrights
Horizons, OBIE Award for Best New American
Play, Drama Desk nomination for Best Play),
The Aliens (Rattlestick Playwrights Theater,
OBIE Award for Best New American Play), Body
Awareness (Atlantic Theater Company, Drama
Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations
for Best Play/Emerging Playwright), and an
adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya,
for which she also designed the costumes (Soho
Rep). Ms. Baker’s plays have been performed
at over 100 theatres across the USA and in
England, Australia, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile,
Peru, Venezuela, Mexico, Latvia, Sweden, and
Russia. She is a Residency Five playwright at
Signature Theatre and a member of New
Dramatists, MCC’s Playwrights Coalition
and EST. Recent honors include a New York
Drama Critics Circle Award, a Susan Smith
Blackburn Prize nomination, a Lilly Award,
a Time Warner Storytelling Fellowship, a
MacDowell fellowship and a Master Artist
Residency at Atlantic Center for the Arts. A
published anthology of her work, The Vermont

Plays, is available from TCG books.
