ACTIVE 1R01 CA132862-01 (Cooper, PI) 01/01/09-12/31/11 (NCE through 12/31/13) NIH/NCI Colonoscopy: Practice Patterns and Limitations Colorectal cancer, the second most fatal cancer in the U.S., is largely preventable through the removal of polyps. However, there is only limited knowledge about the treatment and outcome of colorectal polyps in routine clinical practice. Using data from a large number of Medicare patients, we will study practice patterns for polyp removal via colonoscopy, evaluate its effectiveness in the treatment of early stage colorectal cancer, and estimate the potential failed detection rate at colonoscopy. 1P50CA150964 (Markowitz, PI; Cooper, Co-Project Leader) 9/1/12-8/31/17 NIH/NCI Case GI SPORE Detection of Advanced Adenomas via Stool DNA (sDNA) Methylation Testing The goal of this project is to evaluate the accuracy of a panel of stool DNA methylation markers in detection of advanced polyps in a screening population, including the management of apparent false positive tests.
