Weather & Climate By: Bryan Villarreal, Lilly Peralez & Rheeya Thapa The Difference Between Climate and Weather • Climate is different because it is a type of weather that stays for a long period of time. • Weather is different because it depends on the humidity, temperature, wind speed, moisture, air pressure, and precipitation. Tropical Climate Zone • The tropical zone is located around the equator. Tropical climate zones receive lots of sun light. They receive 200-400 in. of rainfall a Temperate Climate Zone • Temperate is a synonym for moderate. Temperate weather is never too hot or cold. Animals and plants thrive in this zone. Desert Climate Zone • Some plants don’t survive in the desert. Deserts sometimes don’t receive any rain. Deserts are very cold at night. They are really hot when the sun is up. Types of Precipitation - Sleet • Sleet can come down in a ball or a needle. If the needle tips of sleet comes down it can do bad harm.Sleet comes down in snow then melts then refreezes in to ice. • Polar Climate Zone Polar zones are real cold. They are located on the top of the world and the bottom. They are also a deserts because they do not receive a lot of rain. Types of Precipitation - Rain • Rain comes from the ocean, lakes, and rivers. It forms in the clouds. Dark gray clouds produce rain. Types of Precipitation - Snow • Stratus clouds can produce rain or snow. Snow never turns into water after it leaves the clouds. Snow occurs in different places around the world such as top of the world, the bottom , and other places are cold.. Extreme Weather - Lightning • Lightning is a part of nature’s life cycle. If you are in water and lightning hits the water you will die. Lightning forms when ice crystals in the clouds rub against each other. Extreme Weather- Hurricanes • Hurricanes can cause property damage.Hurricanes come from to ocean. They are also dangerous to animals. Extreme Weather - Tornadoes • Thunderstorms can make tornadoes. They also go 300 miles per hour. Tornados can create a pocket of low pressure. Extreme Weather - Tsunamis • Tsunamis form by an earthquake hitting the ocean and it forms a title wave. Tsunamis can kill lots of people. They can do lots of damage to property. They can be as high Extreme Weather - Blizzards Blizzards are the most dangerous type of winter storms. Blizzards are cold, fast, and heavy winds that can do lots of damage. Not all snowstorms are blizzards. Blizzards are very strong. THE END • By Bryan Villarreal, Lilly Peralez, and Rheeya Thapa • the end of the weather…
