OTN Systems, located in Olen, is the designer and supplier of telecommunication transport
networks. The network products allow to integrate different applications for data, LAN, video,
SCADA, voice etc. into one high speed network with a fibre optic backbone. These networks
are used on a worldwide base in a variety of industrial markets such as metros, light-rails, oil
& gas, mining, rail and power utilities, resulting in a unique product and client portfolio.
The OTN products are at their best when it comes to mission critical networking. This is made
possible by the strong investment in product development. To reinforce the software team
OTN Systems is currently looking for an enthusiastic (m/f):
Software developer
As a software engineer you will work in the ‘Windows software team’ of the R&D organization.
You cooperate in the research, design and development of the software applications
responsible for configuring and monitoring the network hardware. Your main interfaces are the
R&D development teams (hardware, embedded software and test), the service organization
(technical support for customers) and product management.
Responsibilities:









Design, development and test of network management software for the OTN
Systems products.
Analysis of requirement specifications and creation of technical specifications.
Selection of software components and integration with other components in the
system.
Test and debug developed functionality.
Maintenance of existing software by monitoring and correcting software defects,
and by analysing and identifying areas requiring modification.
‘Bolting together’ existing software products.
Use the input of colleagues, product management and customers for the
maintenance and performance improvements of the software and to clarify the
requirements.
Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or
external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications and
development platforms.
Contribute to effort estimations.
Profile:









Master of Engineering, Master of Information Sciences or equal by experience.
Excellent / proven knowledge of the .NET framework, and of the C# programming
language, including WCF, WPF.
Some experience in the C++ / java programming language is a plus.
Experience in object-oriented analysis and design.
Affection with developing software that interacts with hardware.
Some experience in the configuration of IP protocols (spanning tree / routing / IGMP
snooping / …) is desirable.
Strong software minded.
Fluency in English.
Dutch language skills desirable.
