Greek Mythology in School
Zeus, god of the sky. Poseidon, god of the sea. Hades, god of the underworld. These may sound like fairy
tale characters but I believe they can be both educational and fun at the same time. Mythology teaches you
about history, and it can help you later in life.
Greek mythology is fun. It contains hilarious things such as Poseidon creating animals just to win over a
woman. It is also awesome like how Daedalus built a labyrinth and he was a mortal. It can also be educational
because it informs people how to think and live. As stated in article 3, mythology gives examples of those who
suffered, gained wisdom, and fell into the category of heroism. Like Prometheus suffering for helping the
humans get fire.
Greek mythology can help you learn some history too. You learn about great works of literature because
most refer to Greek mythology. They teach the culture of Greeks and their history. They teach us things that we
take as a joke but the Greeks take it seriously. It is the way the Greeks see history. As stated in article 2,
mythology is like the bible for the Greeks.
Greek mythology also helps you later in life. They teach moral lessons to help you in almost every story.
We gain wisdom from the god’s mistakes. Like Hera tossing Hephaestus off of Mt. Olympus because he was ugly
and told everyone it was Zeus just to keep her good image.
In conclusion, Greek mythology is a really good subject to teach. It is funny and educational, it teaches
history, and helps you later in life.
