CAST BIOGRAPHIES
Jens Albinus (Jacob Falk)
Jens Albinus graduated from the National School of Theatre of Aarhus in 1989. He continued to
work at the theatre until 1994, and in 1995 he was awarded the Lauritzen-prisen, the biggest
acting award in Denmark. Jens Albinus has appeared in dramatic productions at Betty Nansen,
Kaleidoskop, Volksbühne in Berlin and The Royal Danish Theatre, where until January 2010,
he continues to appear in Hvis dette er et menneske (If this is a Person). Jens Albinus’ cinematic
breakthrough came in Lars Von Trier’s Idiots (1998) with his brilliant portrayal of Stoffer, and in
2003 he won a Robert and a Bodil as best male in a leading role for his for his role in Nils
Malmros’ Facing the Truth (2002). Since then he has appeared in The Boss of it All (2006),
The Coach (2009) and Truth About Men (2010). From 2004-2006 he played the lead role of
Hallgrim Ørn Hallgrimsson i DR’s Emmy winning drama series The Eagle, which won him wide
acclaim with Danish TV audiences.
Marijana Jankovic (Helena)
Marijana Jankovic trained at the National School of Theatre of Aarhus in 2006. Marijana
Jankovic first won acclaim as the seductive and dangerous Carmen in the play 2200 Carmen
at Nørrebro Theatre and played Jamilla in Rasmus & Jamilla at Kaleidoskop. She can currently
be seen as the brunette in the Teater Grob production Blondinen, Brunetten, Svinet & Sengen
(The Blonde, the Brunette, the Pig & the Bed). Audiences saw her make her TV debut as
Katarina in DR’s Emmy winning drama series The Protectors (2008). Her film debut came in
Peter Weiss’ short On the Road from 2007, and since then she has had smaller roles in several
feature films – including The Dance (2008) and The Candidate (2008). Everything Will Be Fine
marks Marijana Jankovic’s cinematic breakthrough.
Igor Rado (Ali)
Igor Rado is a self-trained actor. His TV debut came in DR’s drama series The Protectors from
2008 and he is currently appearing in the DR TV thriller The Killing II (2009). Igor Rado is a
relatively new face on the Danish film scene and Everything Will Be Fine (2010) marks his debut
on the silver screen.
Paprika Steen (Siri)
Paprika Steen finished her formal training in 1992 and has appeared in many of Danish
cinema’s greatest successes – The Biggest Heroes (1996), Hannibal and Jerry (1997), The
Idiots (1998), The Celebration (1998), Mifune’s Last Song (1999) and The One and Only
(1999) (Bodil winner and Robert nomination). Okay (2002) was her first major role and that
same year she played in Susanne Bier’s Love You Forever – two performances which the Danish
Film Academy found so noteworthy that they awarded her with a Robert and a Bodil for Best
Actress and Best Actress in a supporting role. In 2004 she stood behind the camera for the first
time, directing the painful drama Aftermath, which won her several awards at international film
festivals, amongst others a Special Mention at Karlovy Vary. In 2007 she directed her second
feature Till Death Us Do Part. Most recently Paprika Steen has appeared in Kristian Levring’s
Fear Me Not (2008) and has won acclaim at home and abroad for her fantastic performance
in Applause (2009).
Nicolas Bro (Håkon)
Nicolas Bro graduated from The Danish National School of Theatre in 1998 and has since
appeared in numerous plays at The Royal Danish Theatre. In 2002 he was awarded the
prestigious Reumert for his role in Ole Bornedal’s The Screamers at Aveny Teateret. His film
debut came in Anders Thomas Jensen’s Oscar winning Election Night (1998) and since then
he has appeared in many of Danish cinema’s biggest successes – A Love Story, Mona’s
World, Minor Mishaps, The Green Butchers, Rembrandt, King’s Game, Adams Apples and
Dark Horse. Nicolas Bro has been nominated for a Bodil and a Robert on three separate
occasions. In 2006, he won his first Bodil in the category Best Actor in a supporting role for
The Good Heart, winning again the following year after for his unbelievable performance in
Christoffer Boe’s Offscreen. Nicolas Bro is also the lead act in Boe’s forthcoming project Beast.
Özlem Saglanmak (Mira)
Özlem Saglanmak graduated from The Danish National School of Theatre in 2006. Since then
she has appeared in productions at numerous theatres, winning particular acclaim for her role as
Sister Rosa in Folketeatret’s rendition of Pedro Almodóvar’s All About My Mother (2009). In
recognition of her considerable acting talent, Saglanmak was awarded the Reumerts Talentpris
2009. She appeared in TV2’s Anna Pihl (2006-2008), and as early as 2002, Saglanmak made her
cinematic debut in the role of Dilek in Helle Ryslinge’s feature film Halalabad Blues. Özlem
appeared in Natasha Arthy’s Fighter from 2007 and is also amongst the cast in the forthcoming
Truth About Men (2010).
Søren Malling (Karl)
Søren Malling graduated from The Danish National School of Theatre in 1992 and has appeared
in numerous Danish feature films and TV series. Malling’s breakthrough came in 2007 when he
played Lund’s partner Jan Meyer in DR’s successful drama series The Crime I. Malling also
appeared in Take the Trash (2008) and Sorte kugler (2009), and was nominated for a Bodil for
Best Actor in a supporting role for his performance in Erik Nietzsche – The Early Years (2007).
Olaf Heine Johannessen (Michael)
Olaf Heine Johannessen graduated from the National School of Theatre of Odense in 1986 and
has mainly pursued a theatrical career. Following graduation he became a regular member of the
company of actors at Aarhus Teater, winning acclaim for his leading roles in Roberto Zucco in
1991 and Hamlet in 1992. From 1994 to 2004 he worked at The Royal Danish Theatre and
since he has worked as a freelance actor. In 2008 Johannessen was nominated best supporting
actor in Dreamplay at Betty Nansen theatre.
Henning Moritzen (Lemmy)
81-year-old Henning Moritzen is one of Denmark’s most popular actors and can look back on a
long and illustrious film, TV and theatrical career. Since his major breakthrough in the legendary
films Poeten og Lillemor (The Poet and the Little Mother - 1959), Forelsket i København (The
Liar - 1960) and Harry og Kammertjeneren (The Man Who Wanted to be Guilty - 1961),
Henning Moritzen has starred in over 80 feature and TV films. In 1989, Henning Moritzen
appeared in Dancing with Regitze for which he received his third Bodil. He achieved near cult
status following his role as the perverse patriarch in The Celebration and has since appeared in
Christoffer Boe’s Allegro and the Oscar nominated short The Pig (2008). Earlier in the year
Henning Moritzen featured in Rumle Hammerich’s Headhunter and filmgoers can now, once
again, enjoy him on the big screen in Everything Will Be Fine.
