Learning Goal:
Discover the World’s 6 major Religions & Ethical Systems
Religion can be an individual belief.
In some nations, religion can also be a state policy (government requires you to practice)
Throughout history, religions have had both the power to unite people and to create terrible conflict.
Today there are thousands of religions practiced by about 6 billion people around the world.
Religion can be explained as a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of
the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or
agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral
code governing the conduct of human affairs.

ESE: Students will be provided with a support teacher during the lesson. They will also receive

Religion is one of the most interesting parts of the human experience. The earliest religions
were born from our own curiosity and creative thinking. Later more complex religions
developed in the four ancient civilizations. The major modern world religions discussed here
have developed from earlier belief systems and have changed over time
