Possible Topics o Performing rhythmic combinations  Have students put together different rhythm cards that make up a 16 beat rhythm  Put together as groups and perform for the class o Show steel drum and talk about different pitches  Each student plays a rhythm that has been written out on any pitch. Possible Topics o Patriotic music - Rap of the States from Plank Road  Perform the song with each student having a different state  Holding it up at the appropriate time o Sing, “Simple Gifts.”  Listen to “Appalachian Spring” and identify how many times the tune is played and how it sounds different each time o Teach Aaron Copland’s “Appalachian Spring” and “Simple Gifts.” o Draw a musical picture to go with Simple Gifts o
