GUIDE SPECIFICATIONS
Wiremold® Tele-Power Pole System
STEEL AND ALUMINUM TELE-POWER POLES
PART 1 GENERAL
1.1
SCOPE
This specification covers aluminum and steel Tele-Power Pole Systems used to extend branch
circuit wiring and/or data network, voice, video, and other communication cabling to points
of use as shown on the building plans. The Tele-Power Pole System shall consist of the
Tele-Power Pole Multioutlet Assembly, appropriate fittings and accessories to complete
the installation per the electrical and/or communication drawings.
1.2
CLASSIFICATION AND USE
Tele-Power Poles are to be utilized in dry interior locations, only as covered in Articles 353
and 352 Part A of the National Electrical Code, as adopted by the National Fire Protection
Association and as approved by the American National Standards Institute. The Wiremold
Tele-Power Pole Series are UL Listed by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. under File Nos.
E15191 Guide PVGT, E53857 Guide PVUR, E41751 Guide RJPR, and E169069 Guide
ZTFR. They are also cUL Listed in the above files, or are CSA Certified in File LR350.
PART 2 PRODUCT
2.1
MANUFACTURER
The Tele-Power Pole Systems specified herein for extension of power branch circuit wiring
and/or communication cabling services shall be the _________ System (indicate series
from Product Sheet ED420, ED416, or The Wiremold Company Buyer’s Guide) as
manufactured by The Wiremold Company. Systems of other manufacturers may be considered
equal if, in the opinion, and the written approval of the engineer, they meet all the performance
standards specified herein.
2.2
MATERIALS
Section 2.2 will vary depending upon the series specified above. Choose the section below,
which is applicable.
A. 25DTP-4 Series and AMDTP-4 Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole channel shall be _______ (steel, ivory baked enamel finish, or clear anodized
aluminum — specify one) with cross section of 2.25" x 2.3125" [57mm x 59mm] with two separate
compartments. One compartment is to be factory wired with two duplex styles 20A, 125V
NEMA 5-20R grounding-type specification grade receptacles, and colored to match the pole finish.
Receptacles must be UL tested to meet the performance requirements of Fed. Spec. W-C695G
General Specification for Electrical Power Connectors and conform to NEMA Specification
WD 1-7.01 to 7.10 “Heavy Duty General Use Grounding Receptacles”.
Receptacles shall also be UL Listed and be in compliance with UL-498. The harness is to be single
circuit (2 conductor plus ground) with #12 AWG solid type THHN conductors, factory assembled to
the receptacles. 6" [152mm] conductor leads are to be furnished for termination to the overhead wiring
system. An 8" [203mm] removable cover section must be provided at the top of the power compartment
to facilitate the hard wiring of the pole wire harness.

The second compartment is to be for field installation of telephone or data network cabling. An 8"
[203mm] removable cover section at the bottom of this compartment must be provided to assemble and
mount communications connectors. This section must be removable without dismantling or removing the
Tele-Power Pole after installation. The cover section is to have six knockouts for modular voice-data jacks
(RJ-type) and a 1.375" x 2.7" [35mm x 69mm] rectangular knockout for a modular furniture outlet.
A “mouse hole” knockout with furnished grommet is to be included for straight through communication
cable access.
The Tele-Power Pole shall be _______ long (10' 5" [3.18m], 12' 5" [3.78m], or 15' 5" [4.70m]).
2.2.2. Fittings
A full compliment of fittings for the Tele-Power Pole shall be available including, but not limited to,
entrance end fitting for top of the electrical channel, ceiling trim plate, pole-mounting bracket,
Velcro carpet gripper pad, and adhesive pad. (If for air handling spaces, an entrance end fitting
must be furnished for the communications channel.)
2.2.3 Add-On Device Covers and Compartments
The Tele-Power Poles must be UL Listed for field modifications, changes and additions of receptacles,
devices and circuits. Field installed power device covers shall be available to add duplex, single 1.40"
[36mm] and 1.59" [40mm] dia. and rectangular-type receptacles. These plates must be color matched
to the appropriate Tele-Power Pole.
Add-on communication covers must be available to mount workstation device faceplates, inserts, and
specialty mounting bezels. The power pole manufacturer will provide a complete line of connectivity
outlets with multi-media modular inserts for UTP fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types.
UTP inserts shall feature a unique recessed area for port labeling and shall be able to accommodate
designation icon buttons or icon labels. Custom label capabilities shall be available using templates
that can be downloaded from the Internet.
2.2.4 Fiber Optic/Category 5 Cable Radius
There shall be a 2" [51mm] controlled radius entrance fitting, which meets or exceeds the specifications
for fiber optic and Category 5 cabling and TIA/EIA-569A requirements for communications pathways,
for the 25DT and AMDT Series Tele-Power Poles.
2.2.5 Modular Communications Insert Tele-Power Poles
The manufacturer shall provide a Tele-Power Pole with one compartment, factory wired with two
duplex styles 20A, 125V NEMA 5-20R grounding-type specification grade receptacles, and colored
to match the pole finish. Receptacles must be UL tested to meet the performance requirements of
Fed. Spec. W-C695G General Specification for Electrical Power Connectors and conform to NEMA
Specification WD 1-7.01 to 7.10 “Heavy Duty General Use Grounding Receptacles”. Receptacles shall
also be UL Listed and be in compliance with UL-498. The harness is to be single circuit (2 conductor
plus ground) with #12 AWG solid type THHN conductors, factory assembled to the receptacles.
6" [153] conductor leads are to be furnished for termination to the overhead wiring system. The
other compartment shall have a modular communications insert bezel installed and three modular
communications inserts, as well as labeling.
B. 25DTP-4D Series and AMDTP-4D Dedicated / Isolated Ground Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole channel shall be _________ (steel, ivory baked enamel finish, or clear anodized
aluminum — specify one) with cross section of 2.25" x 2.3125" [57mm x 59mm] with two separate
compartments. One compartment is to be factory wired with one duplex specification grade grounding
type receptacle, for branch circuits and one dedicated circuit duplex isolated ground receptacle, both
rated 20A, 125V NEMA 5-20R. Each receptacle shall be on a separate circuit (six wires total) with
#12 AWG solid type THHN conductors, factory assembled to the receptacles. 6" [152mm] conductor
leads are to be furnished for termination to the overhead wiring system. An 8" [203mm] removable
cover section must be provided at the top of the power compartment to facilitate the hard wiring of
the pole harness.
The second compartment is to be for field installation of telephone or data network cabling. An 8"

C. 30 Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole channel shall be steel, ivory baked enamel finish with cross section of __________
(specify one: 30TP-2V — 1.53" x 2.75" [39mm x 70mm] or 30TP-4V — 3" x 2.75" [76mm x 70mm])
with two separate compartments. One compartment is to be factory wired with two duplex 20A, 125V
NEMA 5-20R grounding type specification grade receptacles, and ivory colored to match the pole finish.
The harness is to be single circuit (2 conductor plus ground) with #12 AWG solid type THHN conductors,
factory assembled to the receptacles. 6" [152mm] conductor leads are to be furnished for termination
to the overhead wiring system.
The second compartment is to be for field installation of telephone or data network cabling. A
12" [305mm] removable cover section in this compartment must be provided to assemble and mount
communications connectors. This section must be removable without dismantling or removing the TelePower Pole after installation. The cover section is to have four knockouts for modular voice-data jacks

(RJ-type) and a 1.375" x 2.7" [35mm x 69mm] rectangular knockout for a modular furniture outlet. A
“mouse hole” knockout with furnished grommet is to be included for straight through communication
cable access.

The manufacturer shall provide a Tele-Power Pole with one compartment, factory wired with two
duplex styles 20A, 125V NEMA 5-20R grounding-type specification grade receptacles, and colored
to match the pole finish. Receptacles must be UL tested to meet the performance requirements of
Fed. Spec. W-C695G General Specification for Electrical Power Connectors and conform to NEMA
Specification WD 1-7.01 to 7.10 “Heavy Duty General Use Grounding Receptacles”. Receptacles shall
also be UL Listed and be in compliance with UL-498. The harness is to be single circuit (2 conductor
plus ground) with #12 AWG solid type THHN conductors, factory assembled to the receptacles.
6" [152mm] conductor leads are to be furnished for termination to the overhead wiring system. The
other compartment shall have a modular communications insert bezel installed and three modular
communications inserts, as well as labeling.
D. Round ALTP Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole channel shall be a 2" [51mm] diameter round aluminum extrusion with ______
finish (specify one: ALTP-20W painted office white, ALTP-2P polished aluminum anodized, and ALTP-2S
satin anodized) with two separate compartments. One compartment is to be factory wired with four single
15A, 125V NEMA 5-15R grounding type specification grade receptacles. The harness is to be single
circuit (2 conductor plus ground) with #12 AWG solid type THHN conductors, factory assembled to the
receptacles. 6" [152mm] conductor leads are to be furnished for termination to the overhead
wiring system.
The second compartment is to be for field installation of telephone or data network cabling. A
1/2" [12.7mm] trade size knockout and grommet is to be provided at the base of the pole for
straight through communication cable access.
The Tele-Power Pole shall be 10' 4" [3.17m] long.
2.2.2 Fittings
A full compliment of fittings for the Tele-Power Pole shall be available including, but not limited to,
entrance end fitting for top of the electrical channel, ceiling trim plate, pole mounting bracket and
foot assembly for carpet and hard surfaces.

E. NP600 Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole Channel shall be __________ (anodized or powder coated aluminum in
custom colors — specify one) with cross section of 2.125" x 2.375" [54mm x 60mm] with two
separate compartments. Poles may be wired in either or both channels with wires suitable for
15, 20, or 30 amp circuits. Any channel may be wired with up to 12 duplex receptacles, with
the number of circuits limited by the size of the utility box on the pole in accordance with this
manufacturer’s approvals. Receptacles must be UL Listed or CSA Certified as applicable, and
may be of any specified grade or style, and in standard, isolated ground, or surge form. The poles
may also be used in conjunction with the Walkerflex ® Manufactured Wiring System. cUL Listed
poles may be provided with up to two cord-ends per channel, with all components Canadian Certified.
Cords are to be a maximum of 10' [3m] long. All poles may be provided between 8' [2.4m] and 30' [9.14m]
in length.
Channels intended for power wiring must have the ends closed off by an outlet box, end plate, or foot.
Power and communication or low voltage wiring must be in separate channels. Receptacles shall be
connected to an unbroken ground wire, which is either connected to the pole body or extends into the
outlet box. The Tele-Power Poles may be provided without wiring for the installation of low voltage
wires or for subsequent routing of cables and conduit, according to this manufacturer’s approvals.
2.2.2 Fittings
A full compliment of fittings for the Tele-Power Pole shall be available including, but not limited to,
utility box for the top of a power channel, end blanks, adjustable and non-adjustable feet c/w carpet
gripper pad and adhesive pad, ceiling trim plate, pole mounting bracket, and pole adapter.
2.2.3 Add-On Compartments
The Tele-Power Poles may be provided with up to two add-on compartments to provide additional
channels. Poles may also be furnished fastened together through the sides to form a four channel
side-by-side pole. The capacity of the add-on compartment is the same as one channel of the NP600.
2.2.4 Communication Devices and Accessories
The manufacturer will provide a complete line of connectivity outlets with modular multi-media inserts
for voice, data, video, audio, etc. with faceplates and bezels to facilitate mounting. A complete line of
preprinted station and port identification labels, snap-in icon buttons and write-on station identification
labels shall be available.

F. NP800 Series
2.2.1 Channels
The Tele-Power Pole Channel shall be __________ (anodized or powder coated aluminum in
custom colors — specify one) with cross section of 5" x 4.625" [127mm x 120mm] with two separate
compartments. Poles may be activated in either or both channels and wired with a maximum conductor
size of #6 AWG.
Any channel may be wired with up to 12 duplex receptacles, with the number of circuits limited by
the size and number of utility boxes on the pole in accordance with this manufacturer’s approvals.
Receptacles must be UL Listed or CSA Certified as applicable, and may be of any specified grade
or style, and in standard, isolated ground, or surge form. The poles may also be used in conjunction
with the Walkerflex Manufactured Wiring System. cUL Listed poles may be provided with up to three
cord-ends per channel, with all components Canadian Certified. Cords are to be a maximum of
10' [3m] long. All poles may be provided between 8' [2.4m] and 30' [9.14m] in length.

The NP800 Base shall have four integral ribs on either side of the divider to accept snap-in divider
sections. Snap-in dividers shall be extruded 0.050" [1.27mm] aluminum of the same length as the
Tele-Power Pole. When snap-in dividers are utilized, each new compartment constitutes a new channel.
The Tele-Power Poles may be provided without wiring for the installation of low voltage wires or for
subsequent routing of cables and conduit, according to this manufacturer’s approvals.
2.2.2 Fittings
A full compliment of fittings for the Tele-Power Pole shall be available including, but not limited to,
utility box for the top of a power channel, end blanks, adjustable and non-adjustable feet c/w carpet
gripper pad and adhesive pad, ceiling trim plate, pole mounting bracket, and pole adapter.
2.2.3 Communication Devices and Accessories

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1
INSTALLATION
Prior to and during installation, refer to system layout or approval drawings containing all
elements of the system. Installer shall comply with detailed manufacturer’s instruction
sheets, which accompany system components, as well as complete system instruction
sheets, whichever is applicable.
3.1.1 Mechanical Security
All raceway systems shall be mechanically continuous and connected to all electrical outlets, boxes,
device mounting brackets, and cabinets, also in accordance with manufacturer’s installation sheets.
3.1.2 Electrical Security
All metal raceway shall be electrically continuous and bonded in accordance with the National Electric
Code for proper grounding.
3.1.3 Raceway Support
Raceway shall be securely supported at intervals not exceeding 5' [1.5m] or in accordance with
manufacturer’s installation sheets.
3.1.4 Completeness
All Tele-Power Pole Systems shall be installed complete in accordance with the manufacturer’s
installation sheets. All unused openings shall be closed.
