Assessment is done on theory and practical work throughout the two years and is
assignment based. There is no exam. Students produce a portfolio of work which is
subject to moderation by the exam board.
This course is equivalent to one GCE qualification.
Future Opportunities
Creative Media Production provides the learner with essential communication and
research skills that they can take into any profession or area of further education.
The qualification is recognised by universities and employers. Future careers can
include teaching, video journalism and film production.
Further Information
Students must have 5 A-C grades including Maths and English to undertake this
course. There is a requirement to produce substantial written reports, present
information to peers and adults in written and verbal form and to use radio and film
equipment. Media students are often asked to spend time in the school and wider
community filming editing events such as sports and performing arts. Although this
does not form part of their assessment it is invaluable practice in acquiring the
practical skills needed for higher grades.
Students enjoy using our Academy’s radio equipment and often discover skills they
never had when they start filming and editing in their practical assignments. We are
excited to be introducing a green screen to our range of equipment and hope to see
our students enjoy experimenting with it.
