Advantages of Clear Aligners
Not everyone is born with a perfect straight set of teeth. Even those who are can suffer
deterioration or abnormalities due to neglect or a lack of dental care.
Most of these situations require professional intervention to correct. If left unchecked, the issues can
cause serious health challenges that go far beyond just an unsatisfactory smile.
Dental braces are one way to fix misaligned teeth, however they are highly visible, which many patients
do not like. A newer treatment which is very popular is called clear aligners such as Clear Correct.
As the name suggests, these are intended to be ‘invisible’ braces.
Do I need braces?

What is Clear Correct?
Unlike other forms of braces which use wires and sets of brackets
to realign teeth, Clear Correct treatments do not rely on highly
visible braces.
Clear Aligners involves the use of specially manufactured clear sets of
removable aligners, created to the unique fit of each patient, and replaced
frequently (often weekly). As each set of aligners is removed, a new set is
fitted in its place.
Gradually, over the course of treatment (often spanning many months,
depending on the severity of the problem being addressed), the teeth are
re-aligned to meet the desired recommendation of the orthodontist.


Things you should know
about Clear aligners
1 Speech can be affected in the first week, though most soon adapt and speech
improves the more the aligners are worn.
2 Teeth can be slightly tender after each new aligner has been inserted, though the
more the aligners are worn the quicker the tenderness dissipates.
3 Clear aligners are aesthetically more appealing than conventional braces as they
are not visible, more comfortable and fit well. This allows the patient to feel more
confident throughout the orthodontic process.
4 Clear aligners are more efficient time-wise as there are fewer and shorter
appointments at the dentist.
5 Clear aligners can be worn at any age. They are especially suitable for people
who feel they are too old for braces, as they can wear them without ‘advertising’
that they’re wearing braces.
6 Hygiene is much better with aligners as you can remove aligners for cleaning and
the patient is able to access all tooth surfaces, as opposed to conventional braces
which are more time-consuming and make access for cleaning more difficult.

