• There are nine principles that define Christian
Anthropology
9 Principles of Christian Anthropology
• Principle #1: To be human is to be a person, created in
the image and likeness of God
• Principle #2: to be human is to be a person in
relationship with others and to live in communities
• Principle #3: To be human is to be essentially good,
despite the capacity for disorder and sin

• Principle #4: To be human is to live in a culture of shared beliefs,
values and meanings
• Principle #5: To be human is to live in a culture with specific
symbols and rituals that help us understand ourselves, God and the
world
• Principle #6: To be human is to live in a culture where religion
plays an essential role in how we look at and live in the world

• Principle #7: To be Catholic in culture is to recognize that we form
our relationship with God within culture
• Principle #8: To be Catholic in culture is to commit oneself to the
kingdom of God proclaimed by and personified in Jesus
• Principle #9: To be Catholic in culture is to manifest in creation and
human society God's goodness and generosity. We do this by
participating in the life of the Church
