Anaheim Folk Music Concert Series #126
Great country, folk and blues in Anaheim tonight!
Ernest Troost with special guest Claudia Nygaard
Since wowing us here at Living Traditionn in 2008, singer/songwriter Ernest Troost won
the New Folk contest at this year’s Kerrville Folk Festival. His evocative songwriting style
combines folk and Piedmont blues style guitar picking with timeless stories and colorful
character portrayals drawn from the American past and present. His first solo album, All
the Boats Are Gonna Rise, has been described as what would happen if the Carter Family,
Robbie Robertson, and Alfred Hitchcock wrote songs together. His new album, Resurrection
Blues, is due momentarily. Ernest is also an award-winning composer of scores for films
and television and hosts a live roots music show, Ernest Troost's Juke Joint Gang, at the
Talking Stick coffeehouse in Venice, California, the first Saturday of each month. Backing
Troost tonight will be exceptional singer Nicole Gordon. Visit ernesttroost.com for more.
The daughter of a cattle rancher in the San Joaquin Valley, Claudia Nygaard has been
likened to "a female Will Rogers without the rope”. From her earliest gigs playing bars and
restaurants, through her country/rock years in LA to a fixture on the Nashville scene, her
quick wit & relaxed stage presence is as much a part of her show as the songs themselves.
Her most recent CD is Somewhere Else To Go. Like Ernest a Kerrville New Folk veteran,
Claudia won in 2004. More at www.claudianygaard.com.
