Trend Plotting
Trend Plotting is a powerful tool. Trend plotting is the instantaneous
recording of two or more readable values, compared to each other in
repetition for some period. The period may be time, position or value. There
are many items that can be recorded. Included in these, may be items, not
obvious, such as time or mechanical position. The resulting recording, may
be in the form of a graph, or spread sheet.
S F Automation uses sensors, which generate a signal reference.
This signal is a ratio to the values being recorded. The signal is then
recorded in intervals, which can be selected. Recorded values are in digital
value. The information is then generated onto computer-spread sheet. The
table can be used to generate one or more graphs. One tablet can hold many
rows and columns of information. This information can be used to view the
operation of equipment, base on comparison of columns and rows.
Trend plotting, may include several items, which will be necessary to
be recorded at the same time. An example of this, would be a three-phase
motor, where the current and voltage may be recorded, resulting in six
columns of reading. These reading may be taken over a period of time or
mechanical position. Plotting these vales against each other can generate a
graph or chart. These Graphs and charts can show efficiency, maintenance
needs, and troubleshoot any existing problems, which can prevent
catastrophic breakdown.
