All this information makes the WCD an invaluable resource for anyone interested in Christian and religious demography and the history of Christianity, including religion scholars, historians, and social scientists. The World Christian Database The World Christian Database (WCD) includes detailed information on all major world religions. Extensive religious and secular statistics are available on 9,000 Christian denominations, 238 countries and 13,000 ethnolinguistic peoples, as well as on 5,000 cities and 3,000 provinces. The WCD incorporates the core data from the World Christian Encyclopedia (WCE) and World Christian Trends (WCT). However, statistics in the WCD constitute a significant update of the data published in WCE/WCT in 2001. WCD is an initiative of the Center for the Study of Global Christianity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Cited in the press The Wall Street Journal The Washington Post The New York Times Chicago Tribune Los Angeles Times Newsweek Time The Economist A full-time staff is dedicated to updating and maintaining the WCD.
