COMMISSIONING AGREEMENT

This agreement is made between Performer's name (“The Performer”) and Composer's name (“The
Composer”).
THE COMMISSION
The Composer agrees to compose an original musical work (“The Work”) of approximately
minutes duration for
players drawn from the following list:

The Composer shall present to The Performer a full conductor’s score and parts by deadline. The
Composer also agrees to lodge a copy of the score with the Centre for New Zealand Music (SOUNZ).
PERFORMER AND COMPOSER RIGHTS
 The Composer grants the right to premiere The Work to The Performer, within a period of one year
from completion of The Work. After that, The Work may be performed freely.
 The Composer grants the non-exclusive right of performance of The Work to The Performer in
perpetuity.
 All copyright and ownership of The Work remains with The Composer.
 The Composer retains the right to offer The Work for publication.
 The Composer grants the right for the first commercial recording of The Work to The Performer,
within a period of two years from completion of The Work.
 The Composer grants the right for The Performer to be credited as the commissioner of The Work on
the score and in any programme notes.

Payment will be made in two lump sums: half upon returning a signed copy of this agreement, and half
upon successful completion of the score. Please enclose a deposit slip when returning this agreement.
