Switching supplies rely on high frequency capacitor charging to amplify the voltage, creating noise, possibly interference. • Quality Manufacturing & Design • Good, reliable HV designs are difficult, building a switching power supply increases difficulty and takes many more components (10X a transformer HV section). The connection order (Ground, HV pin, then HV enable) and dis-connection order (HV enable, HV pin, then ground) is important in the design. The +5V is isolated to eliminate interference of HV transients and HV shorting to the SAFE-CONN circuitry.
