This site is sponsored by the Coalition for Evidence-based Policy. The Coalition uses a Congressional “top
tier” evidence standard. Social Programs That Work differs from the Top Tier website in one important
way: It includes interventions identified by the Top Tier initiative’s expert review panel as Top Tier or
Near Top Tier as well as those practices found to be promising by Coalition staff. The site covers the full
spectrum of social policy Evidence-based practices (K-12 education, crime prevention, international
development assistance, etc.) focusing on the relatively few interventions across these areas meeting
strong evidence criteria.

This guide was developed by National Alliance on Mental Illness and is designed to inform families about
evidence-based practices (EBPs) in children’s mental health and to share information on an array of
treatment and support options. This guide is designed to inform families about the meaning of “evidencebased practices.” It provides a brief introduction to a number of effective mental health treatments and
supports for children and their families. The guide does not include an exhaustive list of the EBPs that have
been developed for children and their families. In this guide, families will find information designed to help
them make more informed decisions about treatment and supports. They are encouraged to ask questions
of their child’s treating provider about recommended interventions.

NCTSN Measures Review Database

The National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) provides a searchable database containing reviews
of measures important for the field of Child Traumatic Stress. All reviews were conducted using a uniform
review template to allow comparison across measures. The goal is to provide easy access to comprehensive
clinical and research information so that a given user can determine whether a measure is appropriate for
a specific individual or group, given factors such as the purpose of the assessment, age, cultural and
linguistic group, and trauma type.
