Https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LR85l75e9sY Artist: Pentatonix Genre: Pop, Acapella Song name: Carol of the bells Carol of the bells by Pentatonix is a very different arrangement compared to the others that have been done in the past because it is a Acapella arrangement, all of the melody and sound that you hear they make them self this is why I have chosen Pentatonix in comparison to the original https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSUFzC6_fp8 The opening motif is introduced in the Pentatonix song in bar 34, in the first alto part this is quickly moved to the second alto. The descending scallic bass line had been taken from the original and has been added into the pentatonix soprano line. The bass line was added in to thicken the texture of the pentatonix version of carol of the bells The soprano line in the third picture show that they have added in a completely different melodic line, this is a new feature of this arrangement. Original Arrangement instrumentation This piece was originally written for an organ This arrangement is for an acapella group tempo The tempo of the original song is much slower The arrangement of carol of the bells by pentatonix is speed up Texture/acco The original melody that I have show has a simplistic melody which is accompanied by a mpaniment descending bass line. This show that in comparison the texture is very thin. genre The genre ‘of the original song is a classical Christmas carol The arrangement of the song, had a thick texture than the original this is because they added in a lot of lower and higher notes as well as the new melodic line shown in the slide above The way that pentatonix sung this song made it a pop song instead of a classical Christmas carol which gave the song a different spin of to its normal arrangements. Artist: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Genre: Classical Song: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 12 Variations by Mozart Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Is the inspiration for mozart’s piano composition 12 variations on ‘Ah, vous dirai-je maman’ as you can see from the image the theme is very simple. Mozart was one of the best music composer in the world, he created this to show how many different themes can be created out of one small piece of music, this piece of music was performed in a C major and the right hand played the Melody and the left hand played the bass line https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nof_H7dT9sk This variation is still in the time signature 2/4 and the melody is still in the right hand. Mozart has added some decorative clashing notes called appoggiatura. In the left hand Mozart has developed the simple bass line by using triplets these mainly fit in the key signature but there are some added accidentals. In the right hand of variation 5 of Mozart's work he has started very similar to the original but has altered the rhythm by introducing rests throughout the piece and moving the main melody to the off beat. Later on in this variation Mozart introduces a chromatic scale in the right hand. The rhythm of the left hand means that a call and response or antiphonal texture is created
