About Made in Corby
A three year programme funded by Arts Council as part of its national Creative People and Places
programme, Made in Corby is taking a new approach to make sure that more Corby people than ever
before can take the lead in experiencing, creating and taking part in great art. Our focus is working
with local communities, artists, arts and voluntary organisations, partners and businesses in Corby.
We have already achieved success with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performing at Corby
Football Club and the internationally renowned Frantic Assembly creating a brand new piece to great
acclaim at The Core at Corby Cube. We continue to provide exciting and innovative arts activity across
Corby, bringing excellent artists to create art with our local community. The Made in Corby offer is
attracting great audiences from across the borough, but also from significantly further afield, and
plaudits from audiences, sponsors, businesses and from the art community.
The Project
An original family show inspired by Corby and its people, Danny Hero tells the story of a comic bookloving boy whose dreams of being a superhero become reality when he saves his town from the evil
deeds of some dastardly villains. It is being written by Timothy Knapman and Laurence Mark Wythe
and produced by Perfect Pitch in collaboration with Corby Amateur Theatrical Society (CATS). The
show was selected by a panel of local people and theatre industry professionals from ideas presented
to the community at The Core at Corby Cube in May 2015.
Danny Hero will be performed by a local cast and lead by a team of local artists, who will be mentored
by West-end professionals currently working on shows such as Mamma Mia, Wicked and Billy Elliot.
We’ve negotiated a special deal with production company, Subfrantic, who routinely produce shows
in the 02 arena and at Glastonbury, to provide the set and technical elements of the show. Working
with these industry professionals will not only create an amazing show, but more importantly leave a
inspirational legacy for local theatre.
We’re looking for local businesses to help us make sure that the performance delivers the best
opportunity for the people of Corby and we need your support to reach the widest possible audience.
Danny Hero offers a great opportunity to entertain clients, treat your staff or you could donate your
sponsorship package to a local school or community group, offering the opportunity to people who
may not normally take part in the arts to experience a great event made for them and about them,
Made in Corby.
