POSITION DESCRIPTION Job Title: Project lead - Faster Cancer Treatment Improvement Responsible To: Business Leader – Surgical Services Responsible For: Implementation of change management for the meeting MOH Faster Cancer Treatment timelines. Position Purpose: To work with the clinical teams providing assessment and diagnosis of cancer for BOPDHB to progress clinical process changes required to meet the Faster Cancer Treatment timelines as required by the Ministry of Health. In this role, the key relationships to be developed are as follows: Reports to: Business Leader – Surgical Service Internal DHB relationships Faster Cancer Treatment Steering Group Senior Medical Officers Junior Medical Officers Information Services CNS and Cancer Co-ordinators associated with Cancer streams Elective Services Schedulers Funding and Planning Key stakeholders Minister of Health Other DHBs Key Achievement Areas: The requirements in the above Key Achievement Areas are broadly identified below: Principal Accountabilities Information Services Responsibilities Work with Clinical and IS staff to progress quality indicator reporting of cancer stream management to inform service improvement processes Key Performance Indicators: Quality indicator reporting is available and endorsed for all cancer streams Process Change Responsibilities Work with services to establish the process change required for achievement of MOH FCTT Timeframes Manage stakeholder relationships. Key Performance Indicators: Identify service improvement priorities across cancer streams based on performance and evidence based best practice, e.g. Lung Tumour standards Develop and maintain a clear project plan Report project plan variance to Faster Cancer Treatment Steering Group, BOPDHB and Information Services Programme outcomes Defined reporting and monitoring standards for Fast Cancer Treatment MoH Reporting requirements Service improvement frameworks in place for all cancer streams Key Performance Indicators: Page 2 Delivery of care in line with MoH Faster Cancer Treatment timeline indicators Position Purpose and Responsibilities: The key responsibility for this role is to work with Clinical staff and Information Services to identify barriers and develop process solutions to meet the Fast Cancer Treatment requirements of MoH. The FCTT Service Improvement Project Manager is responsible for effective management of the service improvement programme. This includes thinking ahead and being prepared to initiate, explore and agree innovative and creative solutions to issues and problems. Day to day management includes specifications of outcomes, resource allocation, monitoring and evaluation, continual improvement and actual achievement of specified deliverables. Key Responsibilities and Expectations include but are not limited to: Key responsibilities Performance expectations Leadership Management of the work Team management Financial management Relationship management Take responsibility for the leadership of the agreed work programme, deliverables and outcomes Support the IT and clinical staff through programme management to enable successful implementation of the work programme Ensure that a work-plan is in place with milestones, timeframes, deliverables and performance indicators. HEALTH PRACTITIONERS COMPETENCE ASSURANCE ACT 2003 1. You are required to maintain your current competency based practicing certificate 2. You must notify Manager of any changes to scope or conditions on practice (determined by Regulatory Authority) 3. You must complete the requirements of any competency programme 4. You must notify employer of concerns relating to the risk of harm to the public of another health practitioner practicing below the required standard of competence. 5. Know the provisions of the HPCAA as the governing legislation HEALTH AND SAFETY You are expected to meet the health and safety requirements set out in Bay of Plenty District Health Board policies and protocols and any other requirements set out in the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992.
