Project lead - Faster Cancer Treatment Improvement

Implementation of change management for the meeting MOH
Faster Cancer Treatment timelines.
Position Purpose:
To work with the clinical teams providing assessment and
diagnosis of cancer for BOPDHB to progress clinical process changes required to meet the
Faster Cancer Treatment timelines as required by the Ministry of Health.

Work with Clinical and IS staff to progress quality indicator reporting of cancer stream
management to inform service improvement processes
Key Performance Indicators:
Quality indicator reporting is available and endorsed for all cancer streams
Process Change Responsibilities


Work with services to establish the process change required for achievement of MOH
FCTT Timeframes
Manage stakeholder relationships.
Key Performance Indicators:
 Identify service improvement priorities across cancer streams based on performance
and evidence based best practice, e.g. Lung Tumour standards
 Develop and maintain a clear project plan
 Report project plan variance to Faster Cancer Treatment Steering Group, BOPDHB
and Information Services

Position Purpose and Responsibilities:
The key responsibility for this role is to work with Clinical staff and Information Services to
identify barriers and develop process solutions to meet the Fast Cancer Treatment
requirements of MoH. The FCTT Service Improvement Project Manager is responsible for
effective management of the service improvement programme. This includes thinking ahead
and being prepared to initiate, explore and agree innovative and creative solutions to issues
and problems. Day to day management includes specifications of outcomes, resource
allocation, monitoring and evaluation, continual improvement and actual achievement of
specified deliverables.

Support the IT and clinical staff through programme
management to enable successful implementation of the

Monitor implementation of the work-plan against deliverables
and performance indicators
Ensure the programme is delivered as described or report
issues and gain agreement to changes to the work-plan with
the Business Leader – Surgical Services and Information
Services Manager

HEALTH PRACTITIONERS COMPETENCE ASSURANCE ACT 2003
1. You are required to maintain your current competency based practicing certificate
2. You must notify Manager of any changes to scope or conditions on practice (determined
by Regulatory Authority)
3. You must complete the requirements of any competency programme
4. You must notify employer of concerns relating to the risk of harm to the public of another
health practitioner practicing below the required standard of competence.
5. Know the provisions of the HPCAA as the governing legislation

You are expected to meet the health and safety requirements set out in Bay of Plenty District
Health Board policies and protocols and any other requirements set out in the Health and
Safety in Employment Act 1992.
