Assignment Description
Cities are critical for economic growth and poverty reduction. 80% of global GDP is currently
generated by cities. At the same time, cities generate most of the worlds economic activity and their
infrastructure defines key parameters for productivity, jobs creation, citizens wellbeing, and
environmental and climate change impacts.
As part of the LAC Cities Initiative, IFC is working on the identification of a pipeline of strategic green
projects in LAC region in order to promote its success implementation as a best practice on
sustainability.
The overall objective of this consultancy is to accelerate and promote understanding and
reinforcement in the implementation of the Green Building Code and best practices on sustainability
for Colombian Cities.
1.Provide technical assistance in the identification of key green projects to the largest cities in
Colombia and follow up in all phases.
2.Improve the implementation of Green Building Practices taking as a reference the new regulation
approved by Colombian Government on June 2015. IFC will generate high impacts on this subject by
working on the identification on incentives addressed to the private sector in main Colombian cities.
The consultancy aims to achieve the objectives through the following activities:
1.Identification of 4 main Colombian Cities to provide technical assistance on key green projects.
2.Provide hands-on technical assistance and advisory addressed to 4 main Colombian Cities during the
formulation phase of key green projects. The firm will provide implementation support by
strengthening organizational capacity and facilitating construction in compliance with the GBC in order
to make cities more sustainable.
3.Identify a list of incentives and assess options to fund (financial mechanisms, structuring), to
encourage and de-risk the adoption of the Green Building Standards. IFC is interested on reinforce the
implementation for Green Building Standards based on existing regulation.
4.Contact experts to share with local stakeholders Global Practices in Cities.
