Subject: Environmental Services Professional Training Course
Dear IFC Client or IFC Prospective Client:
IFC is pleased to present you with a training course in hygiene aimed at environmental services
professionals in health care settings available. The Environmental Services Professional Training
Course is free of charge and designed to assist you in health care personnel training. Environmental
services professionals in health care settings are the staff assigned to clean facilities and infectious
disease wards and typically are involved in collection and management of hazardous health care
waste. Prevention programs for nosocomial (hospital acquired) illnesses among these and other
hospital staff often depend upon hazard avoidance training.
The training course includes an Instructor’s Manual, a Student Manual and Post Training Test
designed to help the participant know where he/she stands at the end of the course. The course is
recommended for inclusion in continuing education in occupational safety and health programs,
which are mandatory for IFC investments. All of the materials are available at:
http://www.ifc.org/ifcext/sustainability.nsf/Content/Publications_Handbook_EnvServicesTraining
You are encouraged to adapt the course to host country culture and to implement it in employee
training programs. The course contents are PowerPoint slides that were developed for the training
program. You and your staff will need to review the content and ensure that it is culturally and
geographically adjusted to your needs.
We hope that you will be able to put these training materials to good use in the future and to help
orient your employees to preferred practices and avoidance of hazards posed by the hospital
environment.
Sincerely,
IFC
