To discuss the importance of decarbonisation in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) and South Eastern Europe (SEE) To discuss the importance of financing low carbon technology diffusion for further emissions reductions in CEE and SEE To introduce the Joint Crediting Mechanism as a potential solution to address the above issues To share various schemes and cases under the JCM Two breakout sessions; “Prioritised Low Carbon Technologies” and “Possible Cooperation for Technology Diffusion” 33 Breakout Sessions • “Prioritised Low Carbon Technologies” Power sector, district heating and cooling, transportation and building sectors – Barriers to Technology Diffusion • Lack of long-term low carbon strategies • Lack of financial incentives • “Possible Cooperation for Technology Diffusion” – Identification and matching of relevant stakeholders – Especially, specific technology suppliers and recipients (demand side) 44 Summary : 2015 July LCT WS at REC Main outcomes: • Successfully co-organised the first collaborative seminar between MOEJ, IGES and REC, which welcomed 37 important stakeholders from 10 countries. • Initiated building a platform to encourage policy dialogue on decarbonisation and low-carbon technologies (LCTs) between crosscontinental countries. • Introduced the initiatives of Japan for promoting the diffusion of LCTs and strengthened its presence in Central and Eastern Europe and South Eastern Europe 55
