RECORDING STUDIO „ARS SONORA” ul. Jaworowa 7B, Rąbień AB 95-070 Aleksandrów Łódzki Tel. 601774473, e-mail: [email protected], www.ars-sonora.pl TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR AUDIO RECORDINGS made by „Ars Sonora” Studio The customer provides access to a well-functioning, grounded electrical installation with the following parameters: 230 V AC (alternating current) 50 Hz, stable voltage with no fluctuations, surges, etc. It is important to make sure, that our equipment is not on the same phase as the lighting controllers (thyristor dimmer units, etc.) which can be electrically very noisy. Responsibility for fulfilling all financial, formal and legal issues pertaining to rent of the room, in which recording will be made (hall, church) rests with the customer. When choosing time frame in which the room will be available please consider the fact, that recording is a long process. Comfort at work and creative atmosphere can be efficiently disrupted by unnecessary haste. Should the recording take more than one day and be made further than 50 km away from „Ars Sonora” Studio (Poland-Łódź) – the customer provides accommodation for the recording team at his own expense. Most of recordings are performed by one or two people, in case of more complex works the team is comprised of more people. Customer ensures a direct route to recording location for the car which transports the recording equipment. If this place is e.g. in a restricted area (paid parking zones, historic objects etc.) – then the customer settles this matter with facility administrators or other appropriate services appointed to allow access to a given area. It takes about two hours to assemble and properly configure the recording gear and about one hour to disassemble it. Customer must take this into account when obtaining clearance for our car to enter a restricted area from the respective services and when arranging time period in which the facility is available for recording purposes. Customer is responsible for ensuring silence during recording. Our company cannot be held responsible if situation occurs, when noise from the outside or inside the facility makes it unable to perform a clean, good recording. Customer provides a table and stable (not cracking) chairs. We remind of the need for preparation and tuning the instruments – this especially important for organ and piano recordings. With organ recordings we suggest, that the customer ensures presence of an organ building company during recording – this allows us to save precious time in case the need for tuning corrections and removing minor instrument failures emerges during recording. In case of choir and symphonic recordings we would like the conductor or band leader to pass our request to all band members, considering proper clothing: woolen, polar jackets, etc. are recommended, avoid nylon coats and other noisy fabrics. In case of recordings made in autumn-winter season, especially in cold churches, we recommend taking warm clothing and thermos with tea\coffee with you. Presence of bystanders (observers, artist’s family members, etc.) is not recommended, because of the generated noise, and also certain demobilization and distraction of artists. If the customer scheduled a photo report from recording, it is possible only in the exact time period agreed earlier with us, e.g. before or after recording. Camera snapshots are specifically hard and difficult to remove from recorded material. Ordinarily the edition and montage of the audio material in carried out in our studio in Łódź. However if in special cases the initial montage and edition of the material is supposed to take place at the recording site, the customer provides a room with the best possible acoustic properties – silent, without noise and reverb.
