Introduction to Biomedical Science WVEIS 0781 Instructional content will introduce students to basic medical terminology and medical mathematics commonly used in biomedical technology, along with ethical and legal principles specific to bioethical conduct. Additional units of instruction will include introductory knowledge and skills in the areas of: technology in medicine, forensic medicine, infectious diseases, organ transplants, cell biology and cancer, genetics, careers in biomedical technology, and biomedical research. Students will examine current issues and challenges within biomedical technology. With input and participation of biomedical technology professionals, instructional content will incorporate real world learning opportunities in projectand problem-based biomedical technology practices and procedures to develop an understanding of course concepts. Current technology will be utilized to master course standards.
