Every member of the 19 person cast, production team, and creative team is under 20 years of age, with the majority hailing from Camano Island, Marysville, Stanwood, Everett, Mukilteo, and Snohomish. The KIDSTAGE Summer Independent Production is a musical revue titled Songs They'll Never Let Me Sing, running July 20-22, 2007, featuring such selections as “Every One’s a Little Bit Racist” from Avenue Q, “White Boys” from Hair, and “Rose’s Turn” from Gypsy, as well as “On My Own” from Les Miserables sung by male students. The innovative idea for a revue came from young musical theatre performers who have realized that there are roles in which they will never be cast, due to type, gender, age, or ethnicity or shows they will likely not get a chance to perform within the usual KIDSTAGE experience, such as Hair. The KIDSTAGE Summer Independent Production of the musical revue will allow experienced performers to break out of the mold, shake things up, and become characters whose songs they have always dreamed of singing. -more- Page Two… Village Theatre KIDSTAGE Everett Introduces New Program, Summer Independent Production “We are very excited about providing for the student core production team a hands-on educational opportunity to learn from professional adults; the skills to produce, direct and design a professional quality musical revue,” said Janet Cole Hamilton, program manager for KIDSTAGE, Everett. “The Summer Independent Production of a musical revue is a stepping stone for Everett KIDSTAGE toward a student self-produced full scale musical next summer.” For more information, please contact Jacquelyn Rardin at (425) 392-1942 x124 or at [email protected].
