IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment, Training, Research, and Outreach programmes. Background: As part of its comprehensive HIV/AIDS services, the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) offers free Voluntary Male Medical Circumcision for HIV prevention in the Mid-Western and West Nile regions of Uganda. The project is seeking to recruit suitably qualified persons who are available to start immediately to fill vacant positions for supporting VMMC services in the West Nile region districts of Arua, Koboko and Nebbi. JOB TITLE: Theatre Cleaners (5 positions) REPORTS TO: Facility SMC NURSE CLASSIFICATION: Fixed-term (Contract), full-time SALARY: Commensurate with training and experience DUTY STATION: WEST NILE Summary: This position plays an important role in providing housekeeping services and, together with the laundry assistant, are vital for ensuring that the minimum standards for circumcision in infection prevention, healthcare waste management and facility management are met. Key Responsibilities: 1. Regularly clean the theatre environment and it surroundings at the site and in circumcision outreaches as guided by MoH standards. 2. Management of theatre waste using segregation systems as guided by MoH infection control SOPs. 3. Manage the disposal of theatre waste as guided by MoH infection control SOPs. Educational requirements Certificate in a relevant field Two years working experience in a surgical theatre setting Basic understanding of issues around infection control in health care settings Understanding of basic HIV/AIDS issues is an added advantage.
