The slowdown of growth was in part affected by the high comparative basis of November 2004. Slowing down was due namely to new construction and in civil engineering works. Employment in construction enterprises with 20+ employees grew by 6.6%. The average monthly wage of employees increased by 5.2% year-on-year and reached CZK 22, 973, the real wage grew by 2.7%. Unit wage costs rose by 6.5%. The planning and building control authorities granted 12 045 building permits in November 2005 (of which 6 493 for new constructions and 5 552 for renewals and enhancements). The approximate value of constructions permitted in November reached CZK 30.4 billion (of which new constructions made up CZK 21.1 billion and renewals and enhancements CZK 9.3 billion). While the number of building permits granted dropped by 10.8% year-on-year, the approximate value of permitted constructions grew by 4.9%. Compared to November 2004, the approximate value of nonresidential buildings rose by CZK 3.9 billion, such as shop floors and storage sheds of industrial enterprises, school and office buildings. In most cases these constructions are expensive. Civil engineering works had a CZK 2.0 billion share in this increase. The planning and building control authorities permitted 2 912 dwellings to be constructed, which was by 486 dwellings fewer than in November 2004. Out of that, 2 469 dwellings will be built as new constructions (-277 year-on-year). The number of new dwellings obtained by renewals and enhancements will reach 443 (-209 year-on-year). The approximate value of newly permitted dwellings in multi-dwelling buildings reached CZK 5.1 billion. The average approximate value of a dwelling in a new residential building stood at CZK 1.9 million, which translates into CZK 18.5 thousand per m2 of floor space, the average size of dwelling being 105.0 m2. The average approximate value of a dwelling obtained by renewal or enhancement of an existing residential building was CZK 1.1 million (average size of dwelling 78.6 m 2, CZK 14.5 thousand per m 2 of floor space).
