Diagnostic Radiology CPT Code Changes for 2008 The 2008 CPT Code Book has been released. 2008 brings several coding changes affecting Diagnostic Radiology services. The changes are discussed below. Computed Tomographic Angiography The descriptions for all CTA procedures have been revised to “with contrast material(s), including noncontrast images, if performed, and image postprocessing." Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging All the previous CPT codes describing MRI of the heart have been deleted and replaced with the following new codes: 75557 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material 75558 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material; with flow/velocity quantification 75559 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material; with stress imaging 75560 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material; with flow/velocity quantification and stress 75561 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material(s), followed by contrast material(s) and further sequences 75562 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material(s), followed by contrast material(s) and further sequences; with flow/velocity quantification 75563 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material(s), followed by contrast material(s) and further sequences; with stress imaging 75564 – Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging for morphology and function without contrast material(s), followed by contrast material(s) and further sequences; with flow/velocity quantification and stress Tube Change Radiological Supervision and Interpretation The description for code 75984 has been changed to Change of percutaneous tube or drainage catheter with contrast monitoring (eg, genitourinary system, abscess), radiological supervision and interpretation to remove gastrointestinal system from the examples since the new codes created for gastrostomy procedures include the radiological supervision and interpretation portion of the procedure.
