PRODUCT USE RIGHTS SUPPLEMENT
FOR SYMANTEC: ADVANCED THREAT PROTECTION
This Product Use Rights Supplement (“Supplement”) contains additional terms and conditions for the Licensed
Software licensed under the Symantec Software License Agreement (“License Agreement”) between Symantec
Corporation and/or its affiliates and You as the individual, the company, or the legal entity that will be utilizing the
Licensed Software (referenced below as “You” or “Your”). Capitalized terms used in this Supplement but not defined
herein will have the meanings given in the License Agreement. To the extent there is a conflict between the terms and
conditions of the License Agreement and this Supplement, the terms and conditions of this Supplement will take
precedence.
BY DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING OR USING THE LICENSED SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO COMPLY WITH THE
PRODUCT USE RIGHTS IN THIS SUPPLEMENT, IN ADDITION TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE
LICENSE AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE PRODUCT USE RIGHTS APPLICABLE TO THE
LICENSED SOFTWARE, DO NOT DOWNLOAD, INSTALL OR USE THE LICENSED SOFTWARE.
For purposes of this Supplement, the Licensed Software is: Symantec Advanced Threat Protection
1.
DEFINITIONS.
“Restore Software” means a copy of the Licensed Software that Symantec provides to You to restore the Licensed
Software on the Symantec Dedicated Hardware or Virtualization Technology.
“SEPM Database Log Collector” means Symantec software which You may install separately from the Licensed
Software, at Your option, which extracts data from Your Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (“SEPM”) product and
communicates with the Licensed Software to enable the performance of the Licensed Software. The “SEPM Database
Log Collector” includes any associated program documentation included in, or provided for use with, the SEPM
Database Log Collector.
“User” means an individual person and/or device who is authorized by You to use and/or benefit from the use of the
Licensed Software, or is an individual person and/or device who actually uses any portion of the product or service.

E.
You may use the Licensed Software for the number of licensed User(s) and at the Use Levels for the duration
indicated on the applicable License Instrument (subject to Section 14 of the License Agreement). Your License
Instrument will constitute proof of Your right to make and use such copies of the Licensed Software. If no
License Instrument accompanies, precedes, or follows this license, You are not authorized to use the Licensed
Software.
You may use the Licensed Software on a dedicated Symantec hardware appliance (“Symantec Dedicated
Hardware”) or with the virtualization platform technologies specified in the Documentation (“Virtualization
Technology”). You must have a license for each User for whom You use the Licensed Software and as used
with the Symantec Dedicated Hardware, or the Virtualization Technology. The applicable License Instrument
will constitute proof of Your right to use the Licensed Software with the Symantec Dedicated Hardware and/or
Virtualization Technology in the quantity specified therein.
You may use the Restore Software to restore the Licensed Software to its original functionality on the
Symantec Dedicated Hardware or the Virtual Technology, as applicable, in the event the Licensed Software
is corrupted or becomes unusable.
Your right to use each User license of the Licensed Software is conditioned upon having a corresponding User
license to Symantec Endpoint Protection, which is separately licensed.
Subject to Your compliance with the terms and conditions of this License Agreement, Symantec grants to You
a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use a commercially reasonable number of copies of the SEPM
Database Log Collector solely in connection with Your licensed use of the Licensed Software and solely for
the duration indicated on the applicable License Instrument for the Licensed Software (subject to Section 14

of the License Agreement). You may not use the SEPM Database Log Collector with any other software.
Installation of the SEPM Database Log Collector represents Your consent to creating new services that run
on Your SEPM server and accept HTTP requests from the Licensed Software. Any maintenance/support
purchased for the license covering Your use of the Licensed Software shall also apply to Your use of the
SEPM Database Log Collector. Symantec’s provision of any such maintenance/support is subject to
Symantec’s then-current maintenance/support policies and procedures.
F. Symantec API(S).
i.
Development License. If You obtain one or more API(s) as part of the Licensed Software, You are entitled
under this License Agreement to use an unlimited number of copies of such API(s) solely for the purposes
of designing, developing, testing, using and demonstrating the integration of the Licensed Software with
Your existing systems, other Symantec products, or third party products or other use(s) specifically
described in the Documentation, if any. Such API(s) license shall be in addition to any licenses for the
other portions of the Licensed Software acquired by You under this License Agreement. You shall have
no right to modify or alter the API(s), and You may use the API(s) only in conjunction with Your licensed
use of applicable Licensed Software products.
ii.
No Redistributable Code. The API(s) shall only be used by You for Your internal use, except as expressly
provided in this License Agreement, and may be not be distributed, alone or as integrated with any other
code or product, by You in any manner whatsoever to any third party.
iii.
Open Source Code. Your license rights to the API(s) are conditioned upon Your not creating derivative
works of the API(s) in any manner that would cause the API(s) in whole or in part to become Open Source
Code. “Open Source Code” means a software program that is licensed under terms that require
disclosure to parties other than the licensor of the source materials of the software program or
modifications thereof, or any source materials of any other software program with which the Open Source
Code software program is intended to operate, or that create obligations to distribute any portions of any
software program with which the Open Source Code software program is used. Open Source Code
includes, without limitation, any software licensed under the GNU General Public License.
iv.
Third Party Consultants. You may allow third party consultants to exercise the right granted in this Section
on Your behalf provided that: (a) You ensure that such consultants adhere to the applicable terms and
conditions of this License Agreement; and (b) You indemnify Symantec for any breach of this License
Agreement by such consultants.
v.
Warranty Disclaimer. THE API(S) ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” EXCLUSIVE OF ANY WARRANTY,
INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY, WHETHER
EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. FURTHERMORE, SYMANTEC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE UNDER ANY
THEORY FOR ANY DAMAGES SUFFERED BY YOU OR ANY USER OF THE API(S) OR ANY
APPLICATIONS PROVIDED BY YOU WHICH WERE DEVELOPED USING THE API(S).
vi.
Development Disclaimer: NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF THIS LICENSE
AGREEMENT, THE FOLLOWING TERMS SHALL BE APPLICABLE TO THE API(S): THE API(S) MAY
ALLOW YOU TO INTEGRATE THE LICENSED SOFTWARE WITH YOUR EXISTING SYSTEMS,
OTHER SYMANTEC PRODUCTS, OR THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS, SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS
SET FORTH IN THIS SECTION. SYMANTEC SHALL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SUCH
INTEGRATION OR ANY DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY YOU,
INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO USE OF THE API(S) FOR OTHER THAN THEIR INTENDED
PURPOSE. UNLESS YOU USE THE APPROPRIATE DEGREE OF SKILL AND CARE IN YOUR
DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRAMMING ACTIVITIES, YOUR INTEGRATION OF THE LICENSED
SOFTWARE WITH YOUR EXISTING SYSTEMS, OTHER SYMANTEC PRODUCTS, OR THIRD PARTY
PRODUCTS MAY CAUSE ERRORS OR PROBLEMS IN THE USE OR OPERATION OF THE
LICENSED SOFTWARE. YOU MAY USE THE API(S) TO INTEGRATE THE LICENSED SOFTWARE
WITH YOUR EXISTING SYSTEMS, OTHER SYMANTEC PRODUCTS, OR THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS
AT YOUR SOLE RISK. SYMANTEC SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR ANY USE OF THE API(S) FOR
OTHER PURPOSES OR FOR ANY FAILURE OF THE API(S) AND/OR THE LICENSED SOFTWARE
BASED ON YOUR FAILURE TO PROPERLY DEVELOP, PROGRAM, INSTALL, CONFIGURE AND
MONITOR YOUR INTEGRATION OF THE LICENSED SOFTWARE WITH YOUR EXISTING SYSTEMS,
OTHER SYMANTEC PRODUCTS, OR THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS.
G. Use of Java Software. The Licensed Software contains Java as licensed from Oracle Corporation. Your use

naming convention designation. In the event that Symantec creates an additional API(s) which: (a)
extends the functionality of a Java Environment; and (b) is exposed to third party software developers for
the purpose of developing additional software which invokes such additional API, Symantec must
promptly publish broadly an accurate specification for such API for free use by all developers.
2. Trademarks and Logos. This License Agreement does not authorize You to use any Oracle America,
Inc. name, trademark, service mark, logo or icon. You acknowledge that Oracle owns the Java trademark
and all Java-related trademarks, logos and icons including the Coffee Cup and Duke ("Java Marks") and
agree to: (a) comply with the Java Trademark Guidelines at http://www.oracle.com/us/legal/third-
party-trademarks/index.html; (b) not do anything harmful to or inconsistent with Oracle's rights in the
Java Marks; and (c) assist Oracle in protecting those rights, including assigning to Oracle any rights
acquired by Symantec in any Java Mark.
3. Source Code. The Java Software may contain source code that, unless expressly licensed for other
purposes, is provided solely for reference purposes pursuant to the terms of this License Agreement.
Source code may not be redistributed unless expressly provided for in the terms of this License
Agreement.
4. Third Party Code. Additional copyright notices and license terms applicable to portions of the Java
Software are set forth in the THIRDPARTYLICENSEREADME.txt file.
5. Commercial Features. Use of the Commercial Features for any commercial or production purpose
requires a separate license from Oracle. “Commercial Features” means those features identified in the
Java
Software
documentation
accessible
at
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/documentation/index.html". Nothing in this
License Agreement grants any rights to use the Commercial Features of the Java Software.
