orthodontics, Dr. Alex Gutiérrez
earned his DDS from the Baltimore
College of Dental Surgery,
University of Maryland in 2001.
He completed his specialty
training in Orthodontics &
Dentofacial Orthopedics in 2006
at St. Barnabas Medical Center
in NYC, where he received various awards and served with
distinction as chief resident during his senior year.

Dr. Gutiérrez is dedicated to serving the community
through orthodontics, teaching, and various volunteer
projects. An Invisalign® certified provider, he specializes
in TMJ disorder, laser dentistry, distraction osteogenesis,
implant-supported anchorage and lingual braces.
He believes in a state-of-the-art orthodontic practice.
Using the latest technologies and providing the highest
quality of orthodontic treatment available, he is devoted
to delivering the best care to his patients, their families
and the community.

A native of Puerto Rico and fluent in Spanish, Dr. Gutiérrez
has lived in central Florida since 1987. When he’s not
practicing orthodontics, Dr. Gutiérrez enjoys motorcycle
racing, water sports, snowboarding and computer technology.

the American Dental Association, American Association of
Orthodontics, Southern Association of Orthodontics,
Florida Association of Orthodontics, Florida Dental
Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Hillsborough
County Dental Association and the Hillsborough County
Dental Research Clinic.

A Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics,
Dr. Gutiérrez has won several prestigious awards and
distinctions, including the Pierre Fauchard International
Academy of Dentistry Award for Academic Excellence,
Leadership, and Community Service. He has also been
honored by Who’s Who Among American Colleges and
Universities for his academic achievement and leadership.

WORKING WITH YOUR FAMILY DENTIST
PROCEDURES AND SERVICES
Your family dentist has referred you to our office and
naturally plays an important role in optimum oral health.
We recognize the value of good communication between
doctors and have therefore made a commitment to work
with your family dentist to enable the most comprehensive
treatment program. We regularly communicate with
your family dentist during your treatment as well as
during follow-up.
Dr. Gutiérrez will personally explain all recommended
procedures and will keep you fully informed about every
aspect of your treatment. After gathering important
information—which may include models, x-rays, and facial
photographs—we can best determine your treatment plan.
PATIENT PROTECTION & COMFORT
Our office is committed to your safety. Throughout the day,
we continuously and thoroughly sterilize our equipment
for your protection and adhere to or exceed every standard
of infection control set by the Center for Disease Control
and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Your comfort is also a top priority. We strive to make our
office a relaxing and pleasant environment. In addition, we
communicate with you every step of the way.
FINANCIAL OPTIONS
Several factors determine the fee for orthodontics, including
the complexity and advancement of your condition; you
will be informed of any fees before treatment is started. We
understand your health care or dental insurance will not
cover the entire cost of your treatment, and we make every
effort to help you maximize your coverage and increase
your reimbursement. Financial options will also be discussed
during the initial visit.
Treatment time for orthodontics can range from one to three
years. During treatment, you should see your general dentist
every six months for routine care. Our staff will also teach
you how to take care of your teeth and gums to help you
maintain good dental health.
ABOUT ORTHODONTICS
Orthodontists specialize in the diagnosis, prevention and
treatment of dental and facial irregularities, and treatment to
achieve function, balance, and harmony between the teeth
and face. Aside from the fact that crooked or crowded teeth
can contribute to poor oral health, an attractive smile can
greatly enhance a person’s self-esteem and self-confidence.
Orthodontics can enhance one’s quality of life at any age.
The American Association of Orthodontics recommends
that children should first visit an orthodontist no later than
age 7. The primary advantage of early treatment is that a
child’s natural facial growth can be directed to avoid more
costly and invasive procedures in the future
There are several options of braces in varying degrees of
visibility. We offer mini stainless steel braces, gold braces,
clear braces and the Insignia™ Advanced Smile Design
system. Dr. Gutiérrez is also a provider of Invisalign and
Invisalign Teen.
No matter what your age, your appearance is an important
