I would especially suggest the Prokaryotes and the Origins of Metabolic Diversity (especially gram
positive and gram negative bacteria) and Chapter 40 (Population Ecology).
Also make sure you understand these concepts:
ecological succession
transpiration
carbon cycle
nitrogen cycle
embryonic development
morula, blastula, gastrula and three primary germ layers (endoderm, ectoderm and mesoderm)
Remember to utilize the study guide book for short chapter summaries.
