Immunopathogenesis and Immune Memory in Human Leptospirosis
The project will identify host factors that predispose individuals to severe leptospirosis and will provide
evidence for the role of the immune response, particularly those driven by macrophages, neutrophils and T
cells, as immunopathogenic processes, which in turn, may inform new therapeutic approaches and promote
vaccine design.

Identification and characterization of the Gram positive Bacillus subtilis replicative DNA polymerase
holoenzyme
The goal of the study was to determine the role of DnaE in replication in Bacillus subtilis. The work proposed
to biochemically characterize the function of the B. subtilis DnaE at the replication fork.
