This was an interactive RO1 grant to conduct colonoscopies in the IRAS cohort study

This was a project to re-abstract cancers diagnosed in Colorado in 1997, to complete
follow-up through 2003 to assess treatment patterns as related to outcomes, and to compare

This was a 3-state collaborative project between CO, NM, and Utah Cancer Centers to
ascertain and register families at high cancer risk from our mutual population-based registries.

the efficacy of aspirin and/or folic acid on polyp recurrence.

This was a biomarker study added onto the above folate/aspirin polyp trial.

This program fosters inter-disciplinary and inter-institutional research in cancer and aging
in Colorado, aimed at developing a new program on aging at the Cancer Center.

This SPORE is intended to translate novel biomarkers of lung cancer risk to clinical
studies of cancer risk and chemoprevention. I am the epidemiologist overseeing biomarker
screening studies.

Genetic hypermethylation and lung cancer risk (biotech company contract, Tim Byers PI)
The purpose of this study is to conduct nested case-control studies of genetic hypermethylation
in sputum as an early indicator of lung cancer risk. This is being conducted in collaboration
with the SPORE and investigators in other universities.

This project is to conduct a multi-center pilot trial to test the effectiveness of a comprehensive
cancer rehabilitation program to reduce morbidity and improve the quality of life in low
income and Hispanic breast cancer survivors

Patient Navigator Research Project (NCI RO1, Peter Raich PI)
This project is to develop and test for efficacy, cost-effectiveness and dissemination
of a patient navigator program across the full spectrum of patient navigation for breast,
colorectal, and prostate cancer patients at Denver Health. My role is as an epidemiologic
collaborator.

This is a project to assess community attitudes regarding genetic cancer research in
Native American, Hispanic, Asian-American, and African-American communities
in the greater Denver area. My role is genetic education for these communities.

The purpose of this project is to assess outcomes after breast cancer treatment for Hispanic
as compared to Anglo women in Arizona and Colorado, as a follow-up to the SHINE study.

Front Range Community Network (NCI RO1, Paula Espinoza PI)
The purpose of this project is to develop a network of community-based organizations
across the Colorado Front Range to address health disparities and applied research issues
for Hispanics regarding cancer prevention and control. My role is as a university research
partner and mentor.

Colorado Colorectal Screening Program (Colorado tobacco tax funds, Tim Byers PI)
This is a long-range project to provide endoscopic screening services to Coloradans
without health insurance via the Colorado Community Clinic network systems.
This ongoing program is renewed on an annual basis. I was the PI until 2009, when
I turned the project over to another.
