ASA, AAS, and HL
Vocab. Word
An included side is the common side
of two consecutive angles in a polygon.
(The side in between two angles)
Angle-Side-Angle (ASA)
• If two angles and the included side of one
triangle are congruent to two angles and
the included side of another triangle, then
those two triangles are congruent.
Can ASA be used to determine
congruency?
1)

Angle-Angle-Side (AAS)
• If two angles and a non-included side of one
triangle are congruent to the corresponding
angles and non-included side of another
triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Can AAS be used to determine
congruency?
Hypotenuse-Leg (HL)
(only works for right triangles)
• If the hypotenuse and a leg of a right
triangle are congruent to the hypotenuse
and leg of another triangle, then the two
triangles are congruent.
Can HL be used to determine
congruency?
1)
