a. Whole Class Discussion of Short Story “Questions” & Share textual evidence from “Theme Chart”
(using document camera) – COLLECT
b. Read Naommi Long Madgett’s Poem “Woman with Flower”
i. Compare Literary Works (Write a letter from the poet’s perspective, sharing advice to
“brother” from the short story.): What advice does the speaker in “Woman with Flower”
seem to offer the narrator of “The Scarlet Ibis”? In what ways are the themes of these works
similar? In what ways are they different?
