 It is rich in cultures, flavors, colors, customs and
languages
 Brazil has a social issues that have fair share
 It also have some economic issues that are
experienced differently by other nations
Cont’d
 The government of Brazil as well as its people had to
work hard in resolving this
 The social and economic issues are diversified and
need to be addressed
 It will be imperative if all people embrace this and
work towards it.
Major Social Issues
 Brazil is a country that experience various types of
social issues.
 There is need to have a drastic improvement in the
sector so as to sail the Brazil through
 There are various problems that prevail with regard
to social problems.
 These problems have a great impact on the Brazil
economy
Cont’d
 It is worth noting that like any other country, Brazil
tries to improve its economic status
 This can be done only when the job opportunities are
increased in the country
 In addition, the income of the brazil people need to
be increased to have a stable country.
 However, the country's population is wanting.
Cont’d
 This has led to inequality among the Brazilians.
 Illiteracy is another thing that hinders development
in Brazil
 In addition, lack of proper infrastructure acts as a
hindrance in the development strategies that are laid
down in Brazil.
 It is imeprative to study some of the social issues that
affect Brazil.
 These issues are discussed here below:
Poverty
 It is said that 10% of richest people in Brazil can
access 40% of the Brazil country income.
 On the other hand, 10% of the poorest people only
access 1%.
 This implies that the rich people will continue to be
rich while the poor people will continue to be poor
 This brings about inequality in the country
Cont’d
 Slums are all over in the cities showing the poverty
rate is high
 millions of people live in poverty with only the
selected and affluent few living in richness.
 Most people lack basic needs required for survival
 Infact, some researches shows more than half of
Brazilians can not access basic needs
Crime
 There is high crime rates in Brazil country
 This has been made to be the case because of the
high poverty rates
 People cannot survive on their own without relying
on others
 It has become detrimental as many tend to engage in
unlawful actions
Cont’d
 Most crimes in Brazil include robbing, mugging,
gang violence, and kidnapping.
 People engaging in robbing others in the streets as
well as in their homes
 There is also mugging that most people living in
poverty do engage in
Cont’d
 In addition, some people do practice gang violence
that ends up harming others
 They also do kidnap with a mere reason of soliciting
money from their families
 All these kind of unlawful activities are done by
people who have less in their pockets
 It can only be curbed if the gap between the rich and
the poor is narrowed
Education
 Good number of children fail to attend schools due
to malnutrition
 These are children who come from poor backgrounds
that making an earning is a problem
 There is also low school attendance as a result of
poor family backgrounds
 These families can rarely raise fund to educate their
children
Cont’d
 The biggest reason with education is nonattendance
by children.
 most children fail to attend to classes in order to
start helping their parents
 It is notable that many children with an age of 10
starts helping their parents and thus fails to attend
the school.
 This is a thing that the Brazil government have
fought but fruitless.
Cont’d
 Another problem is having of few education





institutions in local areas.
This makes children not to attend classes
In addition, some of the facilities are poorly
maintained making reading a problem.
There are also high violence in schools that make
children fear to attend classes.
It has been noted that 1 out of 10 children who are
below 18 years are unable to write or read.
This is a very serious case that should be looked at.
Cont’d
 Education is imperative to raising living standards of
any given community
 Therefore this will tend to bring about more crimes
in the area if not checked well
 In addition, those poor families feels that if they were
not educated then there is no need to educate their
children
 This ends up having low class attendance in Brazil
especially where poverty strives
Infant Mortality
 Infant Mortality rate is high in Brazil
 This is a major social issue as young people ends up
being eradicated
 Infant mortality mostly comes as a result of low
financial income
 With low finances, the parents are not in a position
to provide for their children
Cont’d
 They end up having low quality life that is being
threatened by nature
 Another cause of infant mortality is poor sanitation
 Poor sanitation may lead to children’s life being
threatened leading to deaths
 It will be imperative to provide good sanitation to the
Brazilian children
Cont’d
 Another issue is poor education
 Poor education may mean that the parents did not
receive proper education on how to bring up children
 This will be brought forward to the children who are
seen to be at the receiving end.
 Infant mortality is mostly found in areas where there
is no enough of the basic needs
Major Economic Issues
 There are different economic issues that has hit
Brazil country
 These goes hand in hand with what the country can
afford to its citizens
 Government intervention is very important in trying
to make ends meet
 It will be imperative if they are discussed one by one
as it is done here below:
Stock Investors
 It has been unfolding disaster for the stock investors
in Brazil
 Most people in Brazil fear to invest in stocks markets
due to various economic problems
 The iShares fell to 75% since 2011 to 2015.
 This is a great loss and impacts greatly to the
economy of Brazil
Cont’d
 Many institutional and funds investors gave up and
abandons Brazil as a country of renaissance
 Even the president of Brazil faces impeachment
threats due to corruption charges.
 The storm is all over the country making it an
economic challenge
Recession
 Recession is another issue have hit the economy of
Brazil due to voracity of commodities' demand
 China has made the Brazil country to grow
economically
 They had demand for goods like crude oil and
fertilizers, as well as copper and iron ore.
 However, as from 2009, this was not the case
anymore due to economic recession.
Cont’d
 Taxes in Brazil started to fall in line with sales that
were being made in the country
 this become detrimental in the GDP of Brazil with a
budget deficit that exceeded 9%.
 The only source to rescue the economy of Brazil was
IMF and this seems not to be enough
 There is more debts and the brazil country need to
curb this through paying its creditors their money
back
Interest and Inflation Rates
 Interest and inflation rates have also affected Brazil
economy negatively.
 The annual inflation rate of Brazil run over 10% and
this is detrimental
 Brazil government fears that many people both local
and foreign investors may feel less attracted to invest
in the country due to inflation
Cont’d
 This may lead to the investors pulling out and
investing their money elsewhere
 This is a major risk that is affecting the economy of
Brazil
 However, the fanciful solution of the debt dilemma
was felt after the inflationary tsunami that lead to
dilution of Brazil's debt real value
Junk Bond Rating
 Junk bond rating is another issue that forced
liquidation of approximately $20 Billion that was a
big blow to the Brazil economy
 Institutional investors were prohibited from owning
this junk bonds
 This is so because of corporate and sovereign debt
that is one of the world's largest economic issue
 The cost for insuring debts of Brazil with potential
investors is wanting as many fear what will happen
next.


 From the graph above, it can be said that with an
increase in sugar production, there is an increase in
ethanol production.
 It can also be observed that with a decrease in sugar
production there is also decrease in ethanol
production
 Therefore, this means that when the country
produces more sugarcane there will be more sugar as
well as more ethanol
Cont’d
 In addition, it can be observed that as years
progresses, the production of both sugar and ethanol
increases
 This can be seen clearly as in the year 2000/01 the
production was much less as compared to the
production of the same in the year 2010/11

industries that do not perform well

 Forestation industry has not been doing well as the
country tend to do deforestation to create land for
growing soy.
 It is important for the government to discourage
deforestation in Brazil
 The government needs to encourage its people about
the policy of cut one plant two trees
 This will end this menace

market opportunity that is emerging.
