Every day,
60 New
Zealanders
will hear
the words
“you’ve got
cancer”.
Cancer Society wants to make
sure no one goes through
their cancer journey alone
and that fewer people have to
experience this in the future.
Cancer Society provides free supportive care and
accommodation to those going through cancer
treatment; funds vital cancer research, and works to
reduce cancer for future generations.
“Power Up the Cancer Society” is a new initiative
to install a power-saving solar power system on
the Society’s Margaret Stewart House - which is at
the heart of the care and support Cancer Society
provides. This will help reduce power bills and free up
money that can be channelled into core activities that
have a direct and positive impact on people going
through cancer.
Supporters of the project include
Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.
“This is a great project, both
environmentally and socially. It
will enable the Cancer Society
to save money and redirect
some of its operational funds
to expand supportive care and
health promotion services to
the people of Wellington. Solar
panels also fit well in our Low
Carbon Capital.”

Margaret Stewart House.
Margaret Stewart House is a home away from home for people
travelling from out of town for cancer treatment. It is located on
the grounds of Wellington Hospital rented by the Cancer Society.
But keeping up with power bills is a drain on precious resources.
By donating a solar panel you’ll help cut Cancer Society’s power
bill today and for the next 25 years, adding up to thousands of
dollars of savings that will be used to pay for essential support
for cancer patients and their families. Each panel costs just $600
including GST, inverters, racking and installation.

Whether you are an individual or business, the solar
panel you sponsor as part of the Power up the Cancer
Society campaign will help people with cancer for at
least 25 years by reducing Cancer Society’s power bills
and freeing up money to be spent on essential cancer
services.
You can track the power your panel provides by
visiting www.solarking.co.nz/cancersociety and see
just what your donation has achieved.
You can purchase one or more panels, or contribute
towards a single panel at the Power Up donation site.

Immeasurable goodwill and a fantastic long term association with one of
New Zealand’s best loved charities
The savings made over the production warranty
period of the system, are projected to be in excess of
$300,000.
This saving will free up money that can be used to
provide essential care and compassionate services to
cancer patients and their families.
