PROJECTS RELATING TO TREATMENT OF DIABETES PATIENTS WITHIN A FEW
DAYS
a) Project implemented by – Swami Hardas Life System, Services Division

What is Diabetes? What causes Diabetes?
Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic
diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin
production is inadequate, or because the body's cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both.
Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience polyuria (frequent urination), they will
become increasingly thirsty (polydipsia) and hungry (polyphagia).
Diabetes is a Metabolism Disorder
Diabetes (diabetes mellitus) is classed as a metabolism disorder. Metabolism refers to the
way our bodies use digested food for energy and growth. Most of what we eat is broken down into
glucose. Glucose is a form of sugar in the blood - it is the principal source of fuel for our bodies.
When our food is digested, the glucose makes its way into our bloodstream. Our cells use
the glucose for energy and growth. However, glucose cannot enter our cells without insulin being
present - insulin makes it possible for our cells to take in the glucose.
A person with diabetes has a condition in which the quantity of glucose in the blood is too
elevated (hyperglycemia). This is because the body either does not produce enough insulin,
produces no insulin, or has cells that do not respond properly to the insulin the pancreas produces.
1) Type 1 Diabetes
The body does not produce insulin. Some people may refer to this type as insulindependent diabetes, juvenile diabetes, or early-onset diabetes. People usually develop type 1
diabetes before their 40th year, often in early adulthood or teenage years
Type 1 diabetes is nowhere near as common as type 2 diabetes. Approximately 10% of all
diabetes cases are type 1.Patients with type 1 diabetes will need to take insulin injections for the
rest of their life. They must also ensure proper blood-glucose levels by carrying out regular blood
tests and following a special diet.
2) Type 2 Diabetes
The body does not produce enough insulin for proper function, or the cells in the body do not
react to insulin (insulin resistance).Some people may be able to control their type 2 diabetes
symptoms by losing weight, following a healthy diet, doing plenty of exercise, and monitoring their
blood glucose levels.However, type 2 diabetes is typically a progressive disease - it gradually gets
worse - and the patient will probably end up have to take insulin, usually in tablet form.
3) Gestational Diabetes
This type affects females during pregnancy. Some women have very high levels of glucose
in their blood, and their bodies are unable to produce enough insulin to transport all of the glucose
into their cells, resulting in progressively rising levels of glucose.
Diagnosis of gestational diabetes is made during pregnancy.
Long term complications of diabetes
Diabetes makes your blood sugar higher than normal. After many years, too much sugar in the
blood can cause problems in your body. It can harm your eyes, kidneys, nerves, skin, heart, and
blood vessels.






You could have eye problems. You could have trouble seeing, especially at night. Light
could bother your eyes. You could become blind.
Your feet and skin can develop sores and infections. If it goes on too long, your foot or leg
may need to be removed. Infection can also cause pain and itching in other areas.
Diabetes may make it harder to control your blood pressure and cholesterol. This can lead
to heart attack, stroke, and other problems. It can become harder for blood to flow to the
legs and feet.
Nerves in the body can become damaged, causing pain, tingling, and loss of feeling. Nerve
damage can also make it harder for men to have an erection.
You could have problems digesting the food you eat. You could feel weakness or have
trouble going to the bathroom. Nerve damage can also make it harder for men to have an
erection.
High blood sugar and other problems can lead to kidney damage. The kidneys might not
work as well and may even stop working such that you might need dialysis or a kidney
transplant.
Treatment of diabetes
The goals of diabetes treatment are to control blood glucose levels and prevent diabetes
complications. One should focus on these three areas to help achieve optimum health:
Nutrition
When you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, you need to be very aware of not only what you eat, but
also when and how much you eat. Following a meal plan can also help you lose weight and lower
your risk of developing complications.
Physical Activity
Physical activity is an important part of controlling diabetes and preventing complications such as
heart disease and high blood pressure. Try for 30 minutes of moderate exercise, like brisk walking,
on most days.Exercise programs are great resources for developing a safe weight loss program.
Medications
If you have type 2 diabetes, sometimes eating healthy and engaging in physical activity is not
enough. Your doctor may give you oral medication to help control your blood glucose levels. For
people with type 1 diabetes (and some people with type 2 diabetes) this means taking insulin.
People with type 1 diabetes must take insulin to control diabetes--and this can only be done
through multiple injections or by an insulin pump, a small device that delivers insulin continuously
throughout the day.
PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY SWAMI HARDAS FOUNDATION FOR DIABETES PATIENTS
Limitations of Existing Treatment Pattern of diabetes:It is seen that:a) The only option available is to take medicines lifelong along with life style changes.
b) This may be expensive for a large population of the country.
c) Taking medicines over a long period of time also has its side effects.
Need for appropriate study on diabetes:There is a need of appropriate, simple and cost effective technology which would be helpful
in controlling diabetes.
Projects undertaken by Swami Hardas Foundation for diabetes patients
Identification of problem:
1)
The present available methods to tackle diabetes necessitates intake of medicines for a
long time.
2) This may be expensive for a large population of the country.
.3) Taking medicines over a long period of time also has its side effects.
Aim of the present trial studies
The aim of this study paper is to conclude:-Whether diabetes can be controlled by the
application of Swami Siddha technology of Swami Hardas Life System (referred herein after
as “The System”).
a) If it is found that The System is effective in controlling diabetes, then :
i)
the cost involved in implementing the same
ii)
whether any chemicals, equipment etc. are required
iii)
the time taken for increase in hemoglobin
iv)
the level of expertise and education required for the effected persons to
implement the system.
v)
the infrastructure that is required and the cost thereof
Implementation of the project:In view of the above a large number of projects were undertaken over the last many years,
mainly in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH, Government of Karnataka and Andhra
Pradesh and also with the aid of private doctors.
Methodology:Many villages in the states of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, India were
taken up for the implementation of the project in a joint venture with the Department of AYUSH of
these states. The villagers were taught the methods of applying SHLS, free of cost, by the
volunteers of SHLS Services Division .The blood pressure level prior to the application of SHLS
were taken by the technicians of AYUSH or by private lab technicians. The SHLS procedures were
applied by the villagers themselves for three hours daily for 2-3 days. After the application, the
level of blood pressure was again verified by the technicians of AYUSH.
Results and conclusions:From the outcome of all the projects, the following can be concluded:
a) Swami Hardas Life Systems is capable of controlling diabetes.
b) Two to three hours session were held daily and within one to two sessions, positive results
were seen.
c) This is incredible and beyond modern day science.
d) No medicines, chemicals and equipment were used. No extra nutritional diets were
given
e) The system was taught to the participants free of cost, who applied it on themselves.
f) Most of the villagers were poor and illiterate and thus the system does not require
educational, technical qualifications to implement.
g) No costs were incurred by the participants. It is a zero budget system
