FEMINIST THEATRE 101: Production Task: Costume
Student instructions
Introduction
This assessment activity requires you to prepare for and perform the role of Costume
Designer for the Year 12 production of a Feminist Theatre 101. You will work with each of
the groups and the two classes as a whole to support the performance on stage.
You will identify the requirements for each scene, in terms of individual characters required
and then select 3 individual characters from three different scenes across the classes. You
will then work with director of each scene to design, refine and source the costumes as
required to meet the intention/effect. You will work with the crew to pack-in the costumes,
maintain it and pack away following the production as required.
You will submit a statement of intention which includes the lists of requirements for each of
your three characters and a list of costumes required. You will provide annotated designs to
show your intentions and notes-to-self to show how you organised yourself and the crew
during the performance.
You will be assessed on this supporting material along with your completion of the role and
to what degree you have realised your intentions in the performance.
You will work closely with the directors of the scenes to realise the intention of each scene.
The preparation for this activity will take place over 6 weeks of in- and out-of-class time.
You will be assessed individually on how effectively you perform your production role.
