Dear Colleagues
I am writing to bring your attention to guidance for NHS staff wanting to volunteer to support
the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) response in West Africa. Please find enclosed a letter issued
to NHS England on 19 September 2014 by the Department of Health and Public Health
England.

Please circulate this letter to relevant clinical services and teams within NHS Wales.
A range of guidance and information regarding the EVD outbreak in West Africa is available
on the Public Health Wales website: http://www.wales.nhs.uk/sitesplus/888/page/74608 .
Guidance on the management of health care workers returning from humanitarian work in
West Africa is currently under development and will be circulated shortly.
Public Health England is the national focal point for the UK on international health matters
however any queries from staff within NHS Wales should be directed to the relevant local
health protection team in the first instance. The contact details for the local health protection
