 Teacher
2010-2012 Performing Arts Instructor MOUNT VERNON PRESBYTERIAN SCHOOL
In process of development for middle and upper school theatre arts program. Currently
facilitating construction/design for new black box theatre in the upper school building on Glenn
Campus.
1997-2010 Director of Drama Program WESLEYAN SCHOOL
Developed middle and high school theatre program. Responsible for organizing, directing and
implementing a theatre program of classes and productions. Organized, implemented, and
developed theatre program for middle and high school
Created curriculum and began teaching high school and middle school. As growing demand
allowed me to expand the program to three levels of theatre arts courses, I was able to focus
exclusively on high school. In addition to Theatre I, II and III, developed and teach courses in
improv, stagecraft, design and production, filmmaking, film history and appreciation, and
speech communications. Devised and oversee “Senior Project,” to give seniors more experience
in directing and designing shows. Worked with the school’s radio station. Instituted popular
summer theatre camp.
Direct and design multiple productions each year, including musicals, Shakespeare, modern
classics, and company-developed works. When I started at Wesleyan, the school had no
theatre, so my early productions made creative use of the chapel, gym, cafeteria, and even the
steps of the main building! Parents, impressed by the work I produced under such
circumstances, donated $1 million toward constructing a theatre, which I was asked to help
spec. I have since overseen the addition of a black box and a lakeside amphitheatre.
Manage annual budgets of $25,000-$30,000. Raised over $15,000 to accept invitation to take
a production to the prestigious Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Annually participate in
Georgia High School Association and Georgia Theatre Conference competitions, winning
numerous awards. Navigate complex politics of k-12 faculty, staff, students, and parents.
