Reptile Description
 Reptiles have lungs, a special type of egg,
have scaly skin, and are vertebrates.
 Their scales are made of hard dead cells that
the same tough substance found in your
fingernails. This waterproof skin makes it
impossible to breathe through its scales.
 Kidneys concentrate nitrogen-containing
waste products, little water is lost when
wastes are eliminated.
Inside the Reptile
»Double-loop circulatory system,
oxygen poor blood, & rich
oxygen blood, never mix.
Makes efficient oxygen delivery
throughout the body of the
reptile.
Basics of a Reptile
» Cold blooded
» Characteristics were mainly based
from the lizard & toad.
[amphibians] But are also linked
up to be evolved somehow with
birds & mammals.
Brain & Nervous System
Although Reptiles seem so close to
the amphibians, reptiles are better
developed. The reptiles have somewhat
better senses.
Reproduction
• Internal Fertilization
• Lays an egg that is sturdier than the
amphibians or fish, the egg is prevented
from drying out by a protective shell. Some
reptiles have an egg that is similar to that
of a chickens egg. And also have embryos
for further protection and development
from mammals.
BIRDS
Warm blooded
Also have a double looped circulatory
system
Circulatory & Nervous System


Birds have a well developed brain
Some have very sharp hearing
Bird Reproduction
» Lay eggs
» *Like reptile eggs
Singing Birds
Sing to attract mates & at the same
time scares the opposite sex away
Marks territory
Description
 Feathers-thick, easy to dry
 Males have bright colors to attract the
opposite sex and to scare off others.
Some with muscular legs such as the ostrich
and some with wings with no flap, such as
the penguin, birds have a great variety in
sizes, colors, and their way of survival.
Natural habits of a Reptile
 Most of the reptiles eat mice, and other small
things by using their claws to catch, or their
whole body to wrap around their prey and
strangle them. They use their teeth or fangs to
grind up the food. Snakes use their fangs to
hold their prey in their mouth, & it usually takes
a couple hours to actually eat its food. It
depends on how big the animal is.
Natural habits of a Bird
• A bird eats with its beak and most eat
soft things that’ll slide straight through
their throats, such as worms, mice, and
other small rodents, butterflies or bugs.
Birds use their claws to catch food and
make their nests.
