Cardiac blood vessels
{bmp_6lV0CrH41Qs}
Pulmonary vein
Carry oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left
atrium of the heart
{bmp_6nb9TxFH2zm}
Pulmonary artery
The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the
lungs
{bmp_6Rtv8wDT998}
{bmp_5tKSndIr25Y}
Aorta
The aorta is the largest artery in the human
body, distributes oxygenated blood to all parts
of the body through the systemic circulation
Superior Vena Cava
The superior vena carries deoxygenated blood from the upper half of the body to the heart's
right atrium
{bmp_5fT7u2bCVsK}
Inferior Vena Cava
Is the largest vein that carries de-oxygenated blood from the lower half of the body into the right
atrium of the heart
{bmp_6DYMpkCIK87.Name}
{bmp_5WsgUStYjRX}
Right ventricle
It receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium via the tricuspid
valve, and pumps it into the pulmonary artery via the pulmonary valve
and pulmonary trunk
{bmp_6bDb0ypYwWP}
Left ventricle
It receives oxygenated blood from the left atrium via the mitral valve,
and pumps it into the aorta via the aortic valve
{bmp_6hMZsM3maNs}
Left atrium
It receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary veins, and pumps it
into the left ventricle, via the mitral valve
{bmp_6BURlNL4kUA}
Right atrium
It receives deoxygenated blood from the superior and
inferior vena cava and the coronary sinus, and pumps
it into the right ventricle through the tricuspid valve
{bmp_6Lm7ARJiRrG}
Diastole
Is the period of time when the ventricles are in relaxation.
During this relaxation period the right ventricle refills with
deoxygenated blood and the left ventricle refills with
oxygenate blood.
{bmp_6HUVapyjvS2}
Systole
The ventricles contraction which drive out the blood
from the heart. During the systole the oxygenated blood
moving from the left ventricle to the aorta and body, at
the same time the deoxygenated blood moves from the
right ventricle toward the lungs.

Depolarization
Depolarization is a change in a cell's membrane potential, making it more positive. Caused by
influx of Na+ through Na+ channels
{bmp_5yFQ0XOckYw}
Plateau
During the plateau stage the rate of repolarization is slowed by the influx of
Ca+ ions into the cell.

The cardiac conduction system (SA node, AV node and the
ventricular conduction system) provides this
synchronization:
 Atomicity: ability to initiate an electrical impulse
 Excitability: ability to respond to an electrical impulse
 Conductivity: ability to transmit an electrical impulse
from one cell to another
This synchronization allows the ventricular to fill
completely before ventricular ejection, thereby maximizing
cardiac output.

How to read the ECG
strip?
‫?כיצד מפענחים אק"ג‬
The P wave represents the atrial depolarization: electrical impulse starting in the sinus node
and spreading through the atria. It is normally less than 0.10 seconds in
duration.
The PR interval represents the time need for SA node stimulation, atrial depolarization and
conduction through the AV node. Normally ranges from 0.12 seconds to 0.20 seconds in
duration.
{bmp_6casQqrwLW2}
The QRS complex represents ventricular depolarization through a Bundle
of His which divides into Bundle
Branches which terminal point called Purkinje Fibers. The QRS complex
is normally less 0.08 - 0.10 seconds in duration.
{bmp_6FvAgQdCPQR}
The ST segment represents early ventricular repolarization. It is analyzed to identify
whether it is above or below the isoelectric line
{bmp_5ja3UMN3UOB}
The T wave represents ventricular repolarisation
