“Communication Covenant”
SEX IN MARRIAGE
In marriage, sex is suppose to grow
and bloom into the best of intimate
physical communication. And in some
marriages the sexual relationship is
getting better every day. But there are
other marriages where sexual
expressions (and not just intercourse)
have become ruts of routine or
nonexistent.
Q. How do our everyday experiences affect
sexual closeness and communication in
marriage?
Q. How can our daily experiences affect a
husbands or wife’s ability to give to the
other?

CHALLENGES TO
INTIMACY
FUNCTION
WITHOUT
• Dutifully going through the motions without the
bonding and Unity of the heart.
FULFILLMENT
FIZZLE
• No excitement, no anticipation, no creativity, no thrill.

FREQUENCY
• Arguing, bickering, harsh words and hard feelings
destroy the intimacy of romantic love.
• Distracted, disinterested, bored, or simply out of the
habit.
In many marriages the problem is
uncomplicated. We are simply
neglecting our romantic relationship.
With the busyness of life and a few
challenges here and there, we find
ourselves less and less sexually involved
with our spouses.
In too many cases the partner with the
lesser desire sets the tone.

Consider
… each man should have his own wife, and each
woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill
his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her
husband. The wife’s body does not belong to her
alone but also to her husband. In the same way, the
husbands body does not belong to him alone but
also to his wife. Do not deprive each other except by
mutual consent and for a time, so that you may
devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together
again so that Satan will not tempt you because of
you lack of self-control.
