We Must Look To The Creator Of Marriage!
 God

God
If God has created man,
then we must take things
in a more serious light.
God created man (Gen.
1:26-27).
 God ordained marriage
(Gen. 2:24; Matt. 19:46).
 God regulates marriage
(Mk. 10:9).
 God can approve (Gen.
5:2) and disprove (Mal.
2:14-16).

BEFORE DESTRUCTION A MAN'S HEART
IS HAUGHTY, BUT HUMILITY GOES
BEFORE HONOR. IF ONE GIVES ANSWER
BEFORE HE HEARS, IT IS HIS FOLLY
AND SHAME. (PROVERBS 18:12-13 RSV)
Communication in Marriage!
The Need of Communication…
Lives can drift
apart.
Problems must
be solved.
We are different
in how we
approach things.
Therefore we must pay the closer
attention to what we have heard,
lest we drift away from it.
(Hebrews 2:1 RSV)
The Commitment to Communicate…
 Consider the four stages
of decay in a
relationship.
1.
2.
3.
4.
Mutual needs are met.
Mutual needs are
ignored by one or both.
Mutual needs are
demanded to be met by
one or both.
The relationship ends.
Know this, my beloved brethren. Let
every man be quick to hear, slow to
speak, slow to anger, for the anger of
man does not work the righteousness
of God. (James 1:19-20 RSV)
The Basics of Communication…
 Make Time for
Communication. (Eph.
5:15,16)
 Learn to Listen. (James
1:19-21)
 Practice the Basics of Love.
(1 Cor. 13:4-7)
 Be a Trustworthy Person.
(Prov. 11:12-13)
 We must Follow God’s
Order of Subjection. (1
Cor. 11:3; Eph. 5:22,23)
A man has joy in the answer of
his mouth: and a word at the
right time, how good it is!
(Proverbs 15:23 BBE)
5 T’s to Communication:
TAKE
TIME
TOGETHER
TALKING,
NOT TELLING
The Essence of Good
Communication is Humility!
DO NOTHING FROM SELFISHNESS
OR CONCEIT, BUT IN HUMILITY
COUNT OTHERS BETTER THAN
YOURSELVES. LET EACH OF YOU
LOOK NOT ONLY TO HIS OWN
INTERESTS, BUT ALSO TO THE
INTERESTS OF OTHERS.
(PHILIPPIANS 2:3-4 RSV)
