Review PowerPoint DIRECTIONS
• This is your personalized review for your test on Tuesday, January 25!
• Each PowerPoint slide is titled with the lessons we discussed in class.
– The first lesson slide has the learning targets for the lesson.
– The second lesson slide has key ideas/questions. Fill in the
information for these key ideas/questions on the PowerPoint.
– Use your binder (notes, quizzes, etc) to fill in the information you
think will be important to know for your test. (I gave you some
hints!)
– Feel free to put related maps you find on websites.
– Add any clipart/pictures that may be memory triggers for you!
• When you are finished, print out your slide. MAKE SURE YOU
CHOOSE HANDOUTS and print 6 slides on each page.
• This will be turned in FOR A PROJECT GRADE on test day!
• Save to your “P drive”.
Physical Geography of the
Eastern Hemisphere Review
Tyler Vaclav
Exploring Maps of the Eastern Hemisphere
Learning Targets
I can sketch a map of the Eastern Hemisphere from memory and
locate major physical features. (landforms, rivers, and climate
regions).
I can use information maps and photos to locate the major physical
features of the Eastern Hemisphere including climate zones,
landforms, and rivers.
I can use information from GPS, GIS, and climate maps to answer
geographic questions.
Exploring Maps of the Eastern Hemisphere
• E.H. Regions??? Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia
• E.H. Sketch map (leave some space to sketch your map)
• Different Types of Maps??? Physical Map, Geographical
map
• Understanding satellite images
*Write two questions you think will be on the test.*
1. List the 4 Regions of E. H. 2. Sketch a Map of the E.H.
Landforms, Bodies of Water, and
Vegetation of the Eastern Hemisphere
Learning Targets
I can apply the five themes of geography (location, place,
movement, region, and human-environment interaction) to the
Eastern Hemisphere.
I can use information maps and photos to locate the major physical
features of the Eastern Hemisphere including climate zones,
landforms, and rivers.
I can use information from GIS and other Internet tools to compare
and contrast surface features and vegetation of the continents of
the Eastern Hemisphere.
Landforms, Bodies of Water, and
Vegetation of the Eastern Hemisphere
• Important Physical Features of the E.H. (locations) Nile River,
Sahara Desert, Atlas Mountains, Tropical Savannah
• How can the E.H. be grouped into regions based on the physical
geography? Mountain region, Desert region, Water region
*Write two questions you think will be on the test.*
1. Name 2 major Physical Features.
2. Locate some major Physical Features of the E. H.
Climate Regions of the Eastern Hemisphere
Learning Targets
I can use information maps and photos to locate the major
physical features of the Eastern Hemisphere including
climate zones, landforms, and rivers
I can use information from GPS, GIS, and climate maps to
answer geographic questions.
I can apply the five themes of geography (location, place,
movement, region, and human-environment interaction) to
the Eastern Hemisphere.
I can read and create thematic maps and graphs showing
patterns of population and ecosystems in the Eastern
Hemisphere.
Climate Regions of the Eastern Hemisphere
• Major types of climate: Polar, Mild, Dry, Tropical,
Continental
• Factors that affect climate: Pollution, Latitude
• Climate graphs—reading and understanding.
– Make predictions about locations based on graph
– Comparing climates
*Write two questions you think will be on the test.*
1. What is Climate
2. What are some different types of climate.
Population Patterns of the Eastern
Hemisphere
Learning Targets
I can read and create thematic maps and graphs showing
patterns of population and ecosystems in the Eastern
Hemisphere.
Population Patterns of the Eastern
Hemisphere
• Population density??? The Number of people per square mile.
• Population distribution??? The way the population is spread
out over an area.
• Maps
• What affects where people settle? (settlement
patterns)Weather, Climate, Jobs, Houses
• Reading/understanding a population pyramid
– Figuring out quality of life of a country
*Write two questions you think will be on the test.*
1 . What is population pyramid?
2. How does a population pyramid work?
Human-Environment Interaction of the
Eastern Hemisphere
Learning Targets
I can identify and describe the effects that physical
environments, especially natural hazards, have on human
activities and the adaptations/modifications they make to
survive.
I can apply the five themes of geography (location, place,
movement, region, and human-environment interaction) to
the Eastern Hemisphere.
Human-Environment Interaction of the
Eastern Hemisphere
• How do humans and the environment interact? They Modify,
Adapt, Depend on the environment.
• Identifying adaptations We wear warmer clothes in warm
weather
• Identifying modifications
• We make Houses and Buildings
*Write two questions you think will be on the test.*
• 1. What is one way we modify the environment
• 2. What is one way we adapt to the environment.
