Dr M F Suliman
Dr Mohammed Faried Suliman is a Senior Dentist and Lecturer, in the department of Orthodontics,
School of Dentistry, University of Pretoria. He is the Chief Co- coordinator for the undergraduate
orthodontic programme and module chair for the final year dental students.
Dr Suliman was born in Polokwane in the Limpopo Province. Moved to Pretoria and matriculated at
the Laudium High School.
He attended the University of Western Cape where he obtained his BChD Degree in 1987. He then
started his professional career by doing locums, worked in England for a short period and finally
went into his own private practice. He progressed into a multipractice with locums and associates.
In 1998 he received his Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics from the University of Pretoria.
In 2006 he joined the Wits Dental School for a MChD programme but quit after one year due to
family commitments and his passion for teaching.
In 2007 he joined the University of Pretoria and completed an MSc Dent. (Orthodontics) in 2014.
He also a received a certificate of merit from the Univesity Education Forum for Teaching Excellence
and Innovation in 2014.
Dr Suliman was an executive member of both the South African Dental Association (SADA) as well as
the Islamic Medical Association (IMA) –Tshwane, also Chairman for the IMA
